morrison Posted May 17, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 17, 2007 Our ship will arrive at noon and is scheduled to depart at 9PM. We plan on taking a taxi to the beach and returning around 3 or 4 PM. Would then like to taxi to P-Burg for some shopping. Are the shops open in the evening? Is If not, any recommendations as to what to do until 7 or 8 PM? Any little shops along the beach? We plan on Orient beach. Thanks.

Most stores in P-Burg close 5-6 PM; I don't know if they are changing to conform to the offset schedule of the Explorer. There are some restaurants in P-Burg and some gambling places. We have never used the casinos here. You might also just stay at Orient and hit the beach bars for supper. I don't know the late afternoon and early evening schedule though. Even when we stayed on the island we drove back to the hotel to change for dinner. What sailing are you on - we are on the 5/25.

The Big Booper Posted May 18, 2007 #4 Share Posted May 18, 2007 Did you settle for an outside or did you go for the balcony? gary If that is a comma, balcony all the way. We booked 3 months ago, prices were 25% lower at the time. The inside on your link costs more now than the OV from Feb.
morrison Posted May 18, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted May 18, 2007 We are on the 06/08/07 sailing of the Explorer. I'm going to recheck my itinerary. I thought it listed the times as 12-9 PM. I wish we were there for a full 8-5 day. I like the idea of taking the cab directly downtown from the beach. Thanks for the suggestion.

We go 5/25, the trip before you. I will post a quickie write up of what to do with the unusual port times. Car rentals are out. I wonder if the stores in P-Burg stay open late. The new Liberty will be in the same day as us on her maiden voyage.
kal Posted May 19, 2007 #7 Share Posted May 19, 2007 ... I wonder if the stores in P-Burg stay open late... The shops on Front Street close at 6:00pm. However, on Friday nights Taloula Mango's and Sint Rose Beach Bar on the Boardwalk sponsor a live band. Unfortunately they might not start until 8:00p, but they are very good. Last Friday there were 2 bands. Make sure you stop by the Sint Rose Beach Bar and see Michael. He is the best bartender I have ever known. Really a great guy! Here's Michael: Tell Michael that Ken, Sandy, Russ and Deb sent you!
