kimcruises Posted May 21, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2007 Does anyone know if Carnival offers tampons in the public area restrooms on the ship? If so, do they cost 25 cents or are they free? I don't need any advice on how to skip periods or control flow when swimming. I just want to know if Carnival offers this amenity because I think Royal Caribbean does. But if you want to chime in about other things we might find in the bathrooms, feel free :)
BrendaB1 Posted May 21, 2007 #2 Share Posted May 21, 2007 Since it's such a personal issue....I suggest you bring your own.
Cotton Posted May 21, 2007 #3 Share Posted May 21, 2007 I can't answer your question, but am inclined to agree w/Brenda. Bring whatever you think you'll need. (Your 'brand' may not be available.) Won't take up much space in your luggage.:)
airhead22 Posted May 21, 2007 #4 Share Posted May 21, 2007 No, and be sure to bring your own. I had to buy a box of Tampax, the only ones available on the ship and they were quite pricey!!! (Sorry men, sometimes we have to discuss these things.)
unicorn1075 Posted May 21, 2007 #5 Share Posted May 21, 2007 Definately bring your own! My poor sister had an emergency situation and was disgusted with what she was able to get...at the purser's desk, middle of the night no less. It's hysterical now to remember her in "crisis" mode, however at the time it was anything but funny! Now, I will always have a couple in my luggage "just in case" and since I will be traveling with her in August she has been reminded several times of what she MUST have in her carry on. lol
WeatherGeek Posted May 21, 2007 #6 Share Posted May 21, 2007 Oh I am an expert in this field. Out of the 6 vacations I have taken in hte past 2 years, I have spent 5 of them lugging tampons around with me. I guess I am cursed  I do not recall any tampons in the Carnival bathrooms, but I always tried to use the restroom in my own cabin whenever possible to cut down on my chances of getting infested with someone else's germs. Just take your own....I find that it's a lot easier to take them otu of the box and tuck them into nooks and crannies in the suitcase rather than try to squeeze in room for the whole box. I am looking foward to my first cruise where I DON'T having to lug tampons around for a change in 3 weeks.
teeredi2cruise Posted May 21, 2007 #7 Share Posted May 21, 2007 I did happen to see a box in one of the Triumph bathrooms last week, but can't speak on wheter it was actually operational. I did notice a price of .25 cents.
memecakes Posted May 21, 2007 #8 Share Posted May 21, 2007 I have never seen any "supply's" in any of the bathrooms on ether of my two cruises. That would be the Conquest and the Elation. I too always pack a few just in case. Not something that you want to be caught without!!!
victory2020 Posted May 21, 2007 #9 Share Posted May 21, 2007 The Fantasy class hasa them in the gym/spa area & in select bathrooms. They're .25 in the machine - alot cheaper than the gift shop.

Sandi149 Posted May 21, 2007 #11 Share Posted May 21, 2007 I am definitely bringing a box of my own. I'm at the age where you never know when/if you will have "your friend". :p
StuartLittle Posted May 21, 2007 #12 Share Posted May 21, 2007 Not a woman, so obviously not an expert. But I have always wondered about one thing. How can you ever be caught "without"? I mean this comes every month. Seems like you'd always be loaded for bear" if ya know what I mean, regardless of what day of the month it was. :D

In my younger days, say about 20 years ago.....I could tell "my time of the month" like clockwork. Yup...that is true. I would know "exactly" when I would have "it". Now that I am older..... it is a totally different story. So Mr. Stuart Little, women are extremely unpredictable, just like "our friends" are. :p

truecruiser Posted May 22, 2007 #16 Share Posted May 22, 2007 ROFL. whadda thread. i don't think i'd ever think to ask this one. but OP, i believe the other poster is wrong. i believe there are machines in the bathrooms. but you'll need more than an occasional machine trip if you receive this surprise visit on your cruise. so, err on the side of caution and just bring some. now, for the guys, i wonder what kind of machines they might have in the men's room for them:confused: :D

Not everyone has a cycle that is like clockwork! Nooks and crannies might be fine till you forget you packed them and you find yourself pulling them out of shoes and pockets and what not.:p Haha, shoes are one of the safe places to put them....almost guaranteed to not break in half or bend! Usually the small zippered compartments that some suitcases come with work perfectly when you run out of space in your shoe.
Cincy Gal Posted May 22, 2007 #18 Share Posted May 22, 2007 I can answer this:o. Yes there are .25 cent machines in the bathrooms near the casino. I tend to spend the evening hours in the casino and alot quicker to put a quarter in machine then run to my room:). Unfortunately they are your standard regular tampoons. (not my favorite)

newistcruiseaddict Posted May 22, 2007 #24 Share Posted May 22, 2007 Without going to the trouble of reading this whole thread..here is my reply: I had this same problem on the Liberty this month. YES i knew it was coming and YES I brought my own BUT I ran out. Misjudged how many I would need. There was a dispenser in the bathroom next to the showroom with both pads and tampons for 25 cents and I know for a fact that the tampon side was operational. I never checked other bathrooms so I'm not sure where else they'd be. Hope this helps.
kimcruises Posted May 23, 2007 Author #25 Share Posted May 23, 2007 There was a dispenser in the bathroom next to the showroom with both pads and tampons for 25 cents and I know for a fact that the tampon side was operational. I never checked other bathrooms so I'm not sure where else they'd be. This is exactly the info I was looking for! In case anyone doesn't want to read the whole thread, the info I've gathered is that tampons are usually available in the public bathrooms for 25 cents, in the gift shop by the overpriced box, and from the purser's desk during a midnight emergency, but they might only have Tampax. Thanks everyone! Due to modern technology I already know that I won't need them during my next cruise, but I'm traveling with other chicks who are first time cruisers so as a cruise veteran they expect me to be the expert on what to pack ;)
