I will be travelling with my two parents..and my little brother who is 17...i myself am 19...on the S & S car do you HAVE to put a credit or debit card on it? even my 17 year old brother? or can we just use cash on board ...for the things that cost money....I have a rewards car but it has like $200 on it...its almost like a prepaid visa gift card sorto deal....but i heard they do a $100 deposit...so that only leaves me with like $100 to spend...its a 3 day cruise...is that enough? or can i use cash?

Im not old enough to drink...but i heard I can gamble since im over 18...so ill be doing that a little...

The only thing that cash is good for on the cruise is in the casino, bingo cards and tips for room service.

Anything else that you would want to buy is charged to the sign and sail. You can buy specialty coffee and desserts, snacks, gifts, toiletries in the gift shops, tokens for the game room.

You know what you like to buy and what you would spend. Will you be getting the fountain fun card for soda? Will you have shore excursions paid for on ship?

Your parents will be able to set up their own card. They can give your 17 brother the option of charging or not. It is up to them. You can use your own card/account if not on the folks.

If your card has 200 on it they put the hold for a $100 if you don't spend more than that you are ok. If you spend it they put on another hold. If you go over you better hope your folks love you:D :D .

you can also put some cash on your s&s card.

I've done this for all my cruises, as I don't want to use my credit cards.

don't forget that they will take off the auto-tip by the second day.

not sure about your brother as he is a minor.

most likely they will/ or will tie it in with dad's cc.

have a great cruise;)

When you get to the port, just give them cash as the deposit for your card. And if you run out of cash on the card onboard, they will turn it off until you give them more. Very simple.

I assume you are staying in a cabin with your parents. You & your brother can go on their card and (they will need a credit card or cash put down on the account with a set amount) you can pay them when you get off the ship.. I have my daughter save all of her slips and she pays me at the end of the trip. It works well because the big $$ are spent on pictures and alcohol:o and DH and myself are the big spenders..I don't think that you will need more than 100.00 on the ship, but where are you cruising to? Will you be buying things off the ship?:D Happy cruising

No you can't use cash on the ship except for tipping or in the casino. Everything else goes on the ss card. You can put 100.00 dollars down as credit toward your ss card if you want to. I really wouldn't worry about spending all that much on the cruise. Sodas are 1.75 (or they used to be):o coffee, lemonade, ice tea, fruit juice are free. You can purchase a soda card. You would really have to drink alot of soda to use up 100.00:D .

You can use your cash in the casino..(we always set a certain amount aside and if we go through that then we stop.) Since you are in the same party (even tho in different rooms) I would have my ss card on my parents credit card and repay them for your expenditures. When you do the ss card information they can give you permission to charge on the form or not to.

You don't have to associate a credit/debit card with your S&S card, just let the person know when checking in that you wish to set up a cash account once you board the ship. Once onboard make your way to the pursers desk as soon as you can(the line will keep growing with more and more people as time goes on). From then on you can goto the pursers desk and add more cash if needed to the card or you can also add a debit/cred card. At the end of the cruise if you have not spent all of your cash they will leave a check under the door for the amount that you did not spend. I have done this in the past and it has always worked out well.
