cruisin'sz Posted May 26, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2007 So what about Alaskan King Crab Legs? Read lots and lots about salmon....does anywhere in Alaska specialize on these crab legs? I know you go to Maine for lobster....and Ketchikan for salmon -- where do you go for Alaskan King Crab legs?
gambit57 Posted May 29, 2007 #2 Share Posted May 29, 2007 King crabs are caught way out in the Bering Sea. Just watch the "Deadliest Catch" on Discover. It's WAAAYYY out there. And Alaska is BIG. So, king crab legs in Alaska aren't going to be much fresher than if you ate them at home. It's all processed in Dutch Harbor and then shipped out to wherever. We had them on the ship. They were yummy.
Chocochip Posted May 29, 2007 #3 Share Posted May 29, 2007 I saw them all over the place on menus last week. I had them as part of a combo plate at Steamers in Ketchikan. I thought they were very bland, especially in comparison to the really great Dungeness crab that is in season now.
