car rental advice in Vancouver

We can reserve a car in Vancouver for around $35.00 to be picked up at the airport and drop at Canada Place or the Westin Bayshore (where we will be staying). We will arrive at 10:00 a.m. so thought we would drive to Stanley Park for the afternoon before checking into our hotel. I'm trying to figure out if it is worth keeping the car for the night or not. I'm sure there is a fee for parking at the hotel. It would be convenient to have the car to get to the dock the next morning, but might cost more to park it for the night than it would to just hire a cab to take us and all our luggage to the ship.

Ok, so what would be the advantages/disadvantages of keeping the car overnight. We also want to go to Chinatown and Gastown.

mscloyd,

I wrestled with the car rental issue and decided not to do it. Based on what various residents of Vancouver have said, parking is a major hassle.

We will be renting a limousine from the airport to our hotel and then using the Vancouver Trolley Company for local transportation. Here is their website.

They have stops at each of the locations that we are planning to attend.

We rented a car last time and stayed at the Westin. Can't remember if/what the parking charge was, but we did keep the car overnight. Drove around some the morning of the cruise to "kill" some time and see some more sights. Had no problem with parking at the Westin.
