Hi,

1. question about keeping kids entertained:

we got our grandaughter and grandson a disney backpack without them knowing it and put in a few snacks, crayons and paper that the special markers will only color on the paper so no worries about marking up themselves and other things around them. then we put in a mini etch a sketch, 2 books, hand held battery operated hand games. but at walmart for about $20 each. take one set of extra batteries too!!

Some airports now will let you rent a small portable DVD player and rent a couple of DVD's too and you return them at the next airport. They come with headphones. Get a movie for each kid and while one is reading or coloring the other can use the player, then switch them around.

many games come in a mini size for traveling too. Checkers, yahtzee, connect four. also a deck of cards for go fish or what ever games they know. Just realize you may have to play too while one is busy watching a movie or using a hand held game.

Be prepared to read a book to the 6 year old too.

the older child may like to write a couple of post cards to send to friends. just buy generic disney ones at the store and she can wite them on the plane and mail at the airport. I know the trip is just starting but it is just an idea.

snacks you will have to be careful about now due to all the security but most places have snacks you can buy after going through security to put in the bag.

We kept the backpacks int he car and didnt give them to them until we got to the airport and told them NO PEEKING until after the plane was up and ok to get up and about. that kept them busy thinking about what could be in them until time to open them.

for us this worked great!!! just use your imagination for what they like. the portable dvd player was the best thing!!! that filled about 90 minutes per movie!! The small battery games too!! Kids love them.

Good luck, hope this helped some,
