How do MOST people dress MOST of the day...(Not a Dining Room Dress Code Question)

I was wondering how do most people dress for most of the activities or just to walk around on a cruise...obviously the formal dining has a dress code...lets not get into that this thread...Im talking just out and about walking...can i be in my gym shorts....Im talking like at the buffet or pizza....obviously at the shows and stuff its different...just everyday stuff here were talking about

Most people wear very casual clothes on the caribbean cruises. Shorts and tops for most during the day if not a bathing suit w/coverup. Slacks, capris, sandals, pretty much anything that is comfortable. Casual attire including shorts is acceptable in the dining room for breakfast and lunch.

Most of the times during the day I usually wear shorts and a polo or t shirt,if it is rainy or cool, a pair of jeans. At night I wear a pair of dress slacks with a polo shirt or a dress shirt without a tie. I would say a large majority do the same. But basically, just wear what you are comfortable in.

I wear what I wear all the time when I'm in Florida and all summer at home. That would be cargo shorts and a Hawaiian shirt (AKA camp shirt, tropical shirt, etc.)

 

The cargo shorts are great for me as I'm diabetic and I can stick my meter kit in one of the big pockets and secure the flap.

You need to check out the blues cruise in October on the Oosterdam and on the Westerdam in January. NO dress code ever - even in the dining rooms. No disco or Broadway shows either, just blues music in all the venues.

It depends on the cruise line. When I was on Celebrity, their dress code for the evening extended beyond dinner (like after 6:00 pm), so that on formal nights, they wanted you to be formal everywhere you went (shows, lounges, etc.) I didn't see that on other lines, and have seen many people who were dressed up for dinner go for something more casual for the shows and running about afterward.

When at sea....Im in my bathing suit! I use a coverup when I get up to grab a snack. If I choose to go inside to dine or say take a break and play bingo or go to an auction I just toss on some shorts and a T-shirt.

 

When in port I usually put my suit on under my shorts and T. Im always prepared to jump in water. When I was in Honduras, I had no plans but to go to the west end and hang with the locals...sure enough there was a great little strip of beach with crystal clear water. Off came the clothes and in I went.

 

I know alot of people just enjoy sitting on deck or under the overhangs, they are not "sunners" or swimmers so usually they are alittle more dressed in nicer shorts/shirts or capris with cute sandels etc.

Think it depends on how you spend your day or how you think you will spend your day.

I always change after formal night dinner into more comfortable clothes. Non formal nights, I just wear what I wore to dinner, which is capris or sundresses. You will see everything from totally casual shorts and t-shirts (after all, not everyone goes to the dining room for dinner) to those who stay in their formal wear after formal night dinner.

With DH, the tie starts coming off as soon as he walks out of the dining room on formal night:D Other times, shorts, polos, khakis, bathing suit and cover up, capris, sundresses, sandels. You will see anything and everything on a cruise.

 

One of the most surprising thing to me about our first cruise (many years ago) was how much more casual it was than I had anticipated. Hope you have a great cruise:)

Definitely don't wear my formal get-up after dinner (usually end up in the casino or disco and don't want the dress to get all smoky), so I'll change then, but I usually don't bother changing after dinner otherwise (cuts down on the packing). During the day, shorts and t-shirts with my bathing suit underneath. Very casual!
