Canada Cruise Questions

Hi,

 

We're taking the Canada/New England cruise out of New York in September. This will be our first cruise. Not really sure what to expect. This board has been fantastic in gathering information for our group.

 

Our first and only stop in Canada is Halifax Nova Scotia. We arrive at 7:00am and depart at 5:00pm.

 

Do we go through customs in Canada? Or do we just leave the ship and head out to explore the sites? If we do go through customs, how long does it take? With such a short stay, we'd hate to spend a lot of time standing in line.

 

Also, coming back to the ship, do we go through customs again? How long should we allow to get back aboard.

You will certainly have to clear Customs since you are entering a foreign country but it should not take long.

When returning to the ship you just go straight on board. No Customs formalities at that point.

Usually, the entire ship is cleared. If there is a problem, they will call individual names for that. When you get back to the US, you will have to clear US customs, just like you do when you finish any cruise.
