priority embarkation

What does this actually mean for QE2 sailing from Southampton.

I had expected to be able to board early, but our boarding time states 3pm for a 5pm sailaway.

Does it mean a shorter queue or some other perk?

We are in Princess grill, for the first time.

There are two check-in queues. The only on the left is for general boarding and snakes around a few times. The one on the left is marked Grill/Platinum passengers and should only be a few people long (maybe up to 10 at peak). There is a lady stationed at the door to make sure you get in the right line (she does check everyone's tickets). If the queue is out the door, you can stay in the main line until it reaches the door or try entering from the left, opposite the queue (though you may get some dirty looks from people who think you are trying to jump ahead).

Once checked in, you'll receive a low numbered or priority embarkation card. If you arrive after embarkation has started and the backlog has cleared, you can walk straight on.

Ignore the 3 pm boarding notice. You can show up whenever you want between noon and (I think) 4pm. If you arrive on the early side you may get caught in the massive queue, later (by around 2:00) you can walk right on.

You just look like you belong.

Actually, Julie, I was thinking more along the lines that his picture was on the bulletin board at the Cunard equivalent of the post office. She is a RMS, no? And I assume the Brits also have the custom of posting the "rogue's gallery" at the Post office? They've probably been forewarned!

And likewise will the QM2 cope with Matthew:D lm sure we all wait with bated breath.

As for the op about the embarkation, If you able to do a back to back you can bypass both sets of queues and go on straight away. I had a lady escort me through in case the baying mob lynched me:eek: . Unfortunately l was too early for the embarkation photo, and if your early enough you can go on via the crew gangway.

We are on the same cruise and can board from 1.00pm, it said in the booking confirmation package (bits of paper should I say). We are in the Coronia.
