nextelcup Posted June 3, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2007 How was the temperature on the train from Denali to Whittier? If I wear a turtleneck and quilted vest with my corduroy pants while in the train and sit on my jacket, will I be too warm? (Usually I feel cooler rather than warmer) Thanks! Rock712 Posted June 3, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2007 We were on the train on 05/21 and during the trip most of the people in our car took their jackets off. I thought it was very comfortable in shirt sleeves the entire way. As a matter of fact at one point several people asked the steward in our car to turn up the air , but I myself never felt warm
Great Sky Girl Posted June 3, 2007 #3 Share Posted June 3, 2007 We were on the train May 19 and it was WARM. My DH and I were seated at the last table in the car and we were fortunate to get on quickly, so we chose the forward facing seat. Therefore, we had the bench that went across the back of the car on which to place our coats and stuff. It was a clear day so the sun coming through the dome kept it very warm. BUT, we could see Mt. McKinley clearly for a very long time. It was wonderful!! The train jerked and bounced and generally wore us out. The staff said it was because the ground was not thoroughly thawed and the tracks had not settled, it would be better as the season went on. I had really bad motion sickness. The staff was great with their concern for me and the Dramamine they got me helped tremendously. BTW, we saw 4 sitings of grizzly bear (7 in all), several moose, a porcupine, trumpeter swans from the train. How wonderful! Have a great trip!
