San Juan - I still have time....

We have a room reserved for our nights in San Juan, pre-cruise, at the San Juan Marriott. I'm thinking of switching to the El San Juan or the Ritz. This woudl cost me about $100 more per night. My TA loves the El San Juan.

What do you guys think? Any thoughts or suggestions?

Beach and locaiton are important to us as well as the distance from the ship and airport.

Thank you!

Kelly :)

The El San Juan and Ritz are both nicer hotels than the Marriott, both in terms of food and pools. They have equally nice beaches. There is more to do in Condado (Marriott) outside of the hotel. Whereas most of you activities and eating would take place inside the hotel at either the ESJ or Ritz. The Marriott is closer to the boat, but further from the airport. The ESJ and Ritz are closer to the airport. Overall, I would not pay $100 more per night for the ESJ or Ritz. The only important difference is nicer higher end restuarants at the ESJ and Ritz (which you can taxi to from the Marriott) and the nicer pools. Just my thoughts, though.

I've only stayed at the Marriott, but I can tell you that we had a beautiful room, with a balcony, overlooking the pool and the ocean. As the previous poster mentioned, there are several stores and restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel. You can always check out tripadvisor.com for more reviews of all three of these hotels.

I had a suite at the marriott and it was awesome! It had a wrap around balcony that had gret views of the ocean and the port/San Juan area.

Dw and I do a pre and post cruise stay at the Sheraton Old San Juan (Formerly Wyndham), across the street from cruise pier. I booked the Wyndham Condado Plaza for our post cruise stay (Closer to airport - 10-15 Min). The pier is 20 min. from airport. I'm more about convenience, and both hotels offer great amenities.
