Grits53 Posted June 3, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2007 I hope it's legal to post a link here. I might snorkel twice a year, but I want a decent vest. This one has a pocket, which appeals to me. Is it a good vest, or can you recommend a better one at a similar price? https://www.101snorkel.com/displayProductDocument.hg?productId=117&categoryId=

I purchased a replacement vest in Bonaire that looked very similar for about that price. But where's the whistle?:p
bruce-r Posted June 3, 2007 #3 Share Posted June 3, 2007 Looks good to me, just so long as you don't get the pink one. (unless you really like pink) ;)
TNT1827 Posted June 5, 2007 #4 Share Posted June 5, 2007 Hi... I taught SCUBA for many years and almost always recommended against this type of vest. Without knowing your size, experience etc, it is impossible for me to give you a specific recommendation. However, what you are looking at is the bare minimum. Pusing air through that inflation hose is like using a straw, and there is not much volume for positive bouyancy. I would recommend you look for a vest that is more like the old "horse collar" bouyancy compensators. This gives you a full volume inflator, and a larger volume of air to keep you comfortably afloat. Hope this helps!!!:)
