met Posted June 4, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 4, 2007 Is it worthwhile or just as good to stick to snorkeling and save the diving for Nassau?
PHXscuba Posted June 5, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 5, 2007 Met: We did the scuba diving at both Nassau and CocoCay on our Majesty cruise end of April. Our experience was that the diving was pretty tame in CocoCay. You're down 30 feet, max, and there's not that much to see. I think the biggest thing we saw was a stingray, from a distance. Frankly, DH and I saw more diverse fish life on the surface swim out from shore in 5-10 feet of water than on the actual dive. In Nassau we dove with Stuart Cove's, two-tank boat dive. We didn't see any large fish, but the wrecks we dove were good. So I guess if I did it again (and I hope to) I would dive in Nassau and snorkel on CocoCay. On CocoCay, if you have your own mask-fins-snorkel, it's only $6 for the snorkel vest they insist you use. Plus, getting to CocoCay is iffy with the tender/high seas situation, and I'd hate to miss my only scuba excursion. Have fun: any day on vacation diving is better than a day at work! met Posted June 6, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted June 6, 2007 Thanks for the info. That's exactly as I thought. I am booked for Nassau and am looking forward to it as I've been there before.
