Old As Dirt Mom Posted June 5, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2007 A spur-of-the-moment idea: Hammybee, She Who Has A Way With Words, recently mentioned in one of her posts that she would welcome a HAL PAL Ladies Cruise. She even had a name for it, "Cruise of the Yum Yum Man Worshippers" (as in "we worship the Yum Yum man, not "we worship yummy men"). So a few of us crazier HAL PALS have (very casually) discussed such a possibility this afternoon. Lisa LaffnVegas and Sher Localady are booked with their respective spouses on the Feb 9, 2008 Oosterdam cruise to the Mexican Riviera. Now, we realize that Tom LaffnVegas and Bob Localady are not, strictly speaking, female; however, they would make most excellent escorts for a grand entrance into the dining room or show lounge. Are there any ladies out there game to coming along on this particular itinerary? Are there any gentlemen feeling left out who think they would like to come along as escorts? ;) I have no idea of any organization when it comes to booking; maybe Lisa can help me out with that info. Right now, it's just an informal idea. We could even make up "Yum Yum Man Fan" t-shirts. :) If we get up a goodly group, we can maybe take over the Crow's Nest or Culinary Center or even better, take turns serving after-dinner mints with the Yum Yum Man and ringing his chimes.:) What do you think? Am I totally nuts:eek: ? Actually, that's not the question, as we already know the answer. The real question is "Would this be a fun idea for a CC gathering?" Karin (*For those of you not familiar with the Yum Yum Man, this is the very cheerful individual in the bell-boy outfit whom you will find in the main dining room vestibule dispensing dried fruits, mints and ginger after dinner. He also rings the chimes prior to the start of dinner).

Mary Ellen Posted June 5, 2007 #7 Share Posted June 5, 2007 I like the concept (my favorite Yum-Yum Man has been Ari), but not the ship. Anyway, we'll have our own Yum-Yum man then on the Rotterdam as we're sailing with She who has chocolate in her veins, He who hunts Skeet, and some other fellow 'Spamdammers' that I can't think of 'He/She who...' names for right now. Hopefully this concept is something that you'll do again - on a different class of ship. Have a GREAT time!
SDHALFAN Posted June 5, 2007 #8 Share Posted June 5, 2007 OMG: I am leaving for a one-week Alaska cruise, aboard the glorious ms Amsterdam in about 5-1/2 weeks and then do not have another cruise on the horizon (so to speak) until September of 2008 (okay that's a long and expensive one and I need to save money for it) and was wondering how I could survive that long without some motion in the ocean. Hallelujah, a cruise that would be doable (moneywise) hoves into sight. Count me in, please:) . I am tickled to death that I may actually get to meet (in no particular order) MOM (Karin); Hammybee (Captain, my Captain); LAFFNVEGAS (Lisa) and Localady (Sher) up close and personal. Where do I sign up? Valerie:D

hammybee Posted June 5, 2007 #16 Share Posted June 5, 2007 OMG: Where do I sign up? Valerie:D Hey hey ! This is fabulous news. Since you and and Karin will be sailing in Alaska in the next few weeks, be sure you snatch a $100 deposit thing, from the cruise consultant. We could do a "Walk for the Yum Yum Man" and treat every participant who walks one time around the Oosteram promenade deck to a Yum Yum Man Fan t-shirt and pink lady martini:D All donations to go a crew party fund:) Karin
localady Posted June 5, 2007 #18 Share Posted June 5, 2007 Karin etal- I am absolutely thrilled to be a fellow worshipper of the Yum Yum Man!!:D This is going to be such fun, you should see the smile on my face. The more the merrier !!! I kinda mentioned to Bob that there may be a few CCer's joining us....;) One of the reasons I married him was because he is so mellow and a great sport. :D (In fact he will probably have a blast!)
