taxi from skagway into yukon

Hi everyone:

 

Does anyone know if I can get a taxi in skagway just off the port and get the driver to take us into yukon all the way to emerald lake?? do taxis in skagway actually do that?? how much approx it would be?? anyone done this before, like a private tour with taxi driver as the guide??

 

we are sailing on mercury july 13 and posted a roll call to share a car ride since we are canadians but no response so far. so just expanding my options. so far we would rather not do a tour with a tour company.

There is no longer a taxi company in Skagway. You'll find that the small tour companies are a better option even if there was, simply because the driver/guides know the country better. You'll usually find that the folks on these tours have very similar priorities and are open to suggestions for stops, so it's almost like having a personal tour.
