San Juan on a Sunday morning?

Hi all,

 

We are due to board the Adventure of the Seas on a Sunday in just a few weeks! We are staying at the Caribe Hilton the night before, but would like to see some of Old San Juan before we board. We're considering breakfast/brunch at La Bombonera (I can already taste the mallorcas!), and perhaps a bit of shopping/browsing. This plan was sounding great in my head, until I realized it will be a Sunday morning, and will any of the shops be open? Do they open up at noon on Sundays, like most shops in the U.S.?

 

Otherwise, I suppose we can just go straight to the ship, which wouldn't be such a bad thing, either. :)

I travel to PR for the first time in September, so I can't answer your question from past experience. However, from some of the research I have been doing online, it appears that the Plaza Las Américas is open from 11-5 on Sundays.

Not much is open on Sundays. In fact, more shops are open on a holiday than on Sundays. Just look for what is open. If you have a particular shop in mind, it may pay to contact them via email to see if they will be open or not.

The shops are open from 11 - 5 on Sundays. There are few exceptions to this local law.

Thank you all for your responses. I think we will probably just eat brunch and go straight to the ship around noon. Oh well--more time on the ship!! :)
