Linda VH Posted June 16, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 16, 2007 We are leaving from Rome on the Westerdam and have Florence booked with Access Italy (a friend of a friend). We do not, however, have bookings for Marseille (I understand it is ugly but you want to go to Aix and/or Cassis), Barcelona, Valencia, Almeria or Ponta Delgada. We will 4 to 6 people depending on the walking parts. One of the couples has an older man who doesn't walk too much. The rest of us are retired active people so the walking is not a problem for us. We don't, however, want to get on a bus as we like to go our own way. Any suggestions you have would be appreciated. TIA, Linda
Dee1161 Posted June 16, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 16, 2007 We used Ricardo with Amazing Tours. He was very prompt and very professional. We were able to customize exactly what we wanted to see (no pineapple tours!). Our group ended up in 3 different taxis and all the drivers were great. The island was so beautiful ! Here is the website http://www.amazingtours.se/ Have a great trip !
twist47 Posted July 6, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 6, 2007 We were in Marseille port in May 2007. We shared a taxi with a couple from New Zealand. We were met right as we got off the Rotterdam by a driver who turned to be just what we wanted. We spoke in English and came to agreement on where, length and sites we wanted to go to. We would recommend him. After our trip for over 7hours in a great car and more time and sites than had we agreed to , we tipped him 10 more euros. His name is Gilles and his card I have, only has a phone # 06 09 88 84 33. I am sure you could agree with one of the other drivers at the port if you cannot find Gilles. debbruce Posted July 11, 2007 #6 Share Posted July 11, 2007 When in Marsaille we used Catherine of Provence Tour Designer. Her email is provtrav@provence-travel.com. This is one wonderful lady. Speaks beautiful English, was on time, and loves what she does. Since we were there on Wednesday, we wanted to go to the open market in St. Remy in the morning. What a wonderful place. If the market was open all day, we could have just stayed and ate and shopped ourselves silly.. This is not a tourist area - Everything is fresh or handmade. She took us to the hospital where VanGough lived for two years and told us his life history. We had a wonderful lunch and wine tasting experience. Toured the village of les Baux and its surroundings. Catherine knows her history and truly loves what she does. She wanted to make our day memorable and she did. It was also a pleasure to correspond with her. She answers your letters quickly and gave us lots and lots of choices for the day. We never felt rushed. Debbie
