zaandam_2 Posted June 24, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 24, 2007 you won't use any currency onboard, unless you tip above the normal rate which are automatically charged to your account. you will have a card issue by the ship to make purchase. the charges in the med will be in euros. Rare HeinBloed Posted June 29, 2007 #3 Share Posted June 29, 2007 There is no service charge on drinks. But there is also no dedicated "Tip"-line on the charging bills. So if you want to tip extra to your waiters because they are very nice: Some Euro will be fine for this purpose. As you are from the US - it works like normal: You are checking in in Genoa (I guess), showing your credit card. On board account are kept in EUR. You get your bill finally in EUR. And when you return to the US the credit card company took care to charge you in USD at home. As 6 EUR service charge per day * person is charged to your on board account, everything is already covered. But we had so nice staff that we gave some Euros extra. Depending to the ports of call it could be that you need to have some local currencies as well - like in Egypt - although most tourist attractions in the Med Sea accepts the Euro as well. Have a great cruise with MSC - I like them! Regards, HeinBloed
fathercop Posted July 7, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 7, 2007 At the Purser's Desk and in the casino, do they make all monetary transactions in Euros? Thanks.
Rare HeinBloed Posted July 8, 2007 #5 Share Posted July 8, 2007 At the Purser's Desk and in the casino, do they make all monetary transactions in Euros? Depends to the cruise you are doing and which currency is onboard currency. Like in Caribbean it's USD. So Purser and Casino all run in USD.
