mommabean Posted January 12, 2008 #526 Share Posted January 12, 2008 We are sailing on Enchantment on Feb 14th for a 4 night cruise. We'll be in an Owner's suite, near the bridge. Hubby wants to know what the internet access is like. Is WiFi available, or at least cybercabin? Thanks! The internet is slow but not as slow as it was a few years ago. There's no cyber cabin. WiFi may be available in the Royal Caribbean on line area. But there are so many computers and not many people are using them so you might want to just use one of the ship's PCs. Too bad you're in the OS on the day Julian, the regular concierge, is leaving the ship. Well, not TOO bad. Concierge access is nice anyway and if Carlos is filling in, they say he's a great guy, too. There are 2 PCs in the CL that you can also use and they get very little use most of the time, too.
marle7 Posted January 12, 2008 #527 Share Posted January 12, 2008 Thanks! Unfortunately, for work stuff, he's got to bring his own computer. I'm guessing if there is WiFi, the concerige lounge will be a hot spot anyway. I hope. And yes, I know about work and cruising, but it's the only way he can travel at this time of year, so I'll take what I can get. :)

That stinks that your DH has to bring work on board :(

GrammyJill Posted January 14, 2008 #530 Share Posted January 14, 2008 It took me 2 days to read the whole dang thread & I have been obsessed with it all weekend! :) Who needs laundry, right? I am so excited & have no idea how I am going to make it 8 months! You will all see me a lot until cruise time. After reading EVERY WORD I only have a few questions. What is the difference between a D2 & a D1 besides $30? I understand a lot of the D1's are on deck 8 but the layouts & the sq. footage seem the same. Does anyone know what would make it worth $60? Secondly, we will be traveling with another couple. Do the balconies open up in between? Some RCCI ships you can double or triple or quadruple you balcony space. Can we do that on EotS? This has been great fun reading all your fantastic words. Love the photo's. Keep 'em coming!

smilingrl Posted January 16, 2008 #532 Share Posted January 16, 2008 I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I didn't see it on the thread anywhere... has anyone out there been on the Enchantment for the 5-night going to GC & OR? I was wondering what the formal night is... is it the same as the other 5-night itinerary? And if you could remember what the other nights were, that would be great! Thanks so much! First day at sea (so second day you are onboard) is formal night. I took this cruise 12/07 and it was GREAT!!!! Nice smooth sailing...GC, the water is so clear!!! We went to 7 mile beach... I booked the EOS again for next Nov, this time though I will be on a 5 nighter to Key West, Cozumel and Belize!

GrammyJill Posted January 21, 2008 #539 Share Posted January 21, 2008 I have to admit I watch for any updates on this thread, daily! Karina, GREAT REVIEW! I felt like I was there. Good job! Can anyone answer the question about the balconies, our T.A. isn't sure if you can open them up.
mommabean Posted January 21, 2008 #540 Share Posted January 21, 2008 Everything I've read about the balconies is that they don't allow them to be opened up anymore - at least in most circumstances. On rare occassions I've read someone claim they got a room steward to open one - but we can't be sure it has happened until we see it for ourselves, can we? ;) All you can do is ask when you get on board, but expect it to not happen so you won't be too disappointed. MtnBikerFallDown Posted January 21, 2008 #541 Share Posted January 21, 2008 The hinges/locks on our balcony dividers had layers of paint over them, so it didn't look like they did that, with our room at least. And, for you Enchantment Junkies (of which I am a proud member, now), here's what I considered some fun stuff to do on board: Champagne Terrace is a great place to hang out and listen to The Evergreen Trio. they perform there at night, and their lead singer has a beautiful voice. Nice, smooth music. Also, it's smoke free, and the bar is never crowded, so great place to hang out. Boleros is a lot of fun when they are doing dance classes, trivia, etc. Even if you don't participate, it's so much fun to watch. IMHO, the best seats in the Orpheum are the ones in the back of the first leve. They are tiered more steeply, and you get a fantastic view! Not as many folks jockeyed for those seats, and I just loved them. They're under the balcony level above, if that makes sense. If you do not drink alcohol, there is a Passion Crush drink that is fabulous! It has all sorts of fruit juices in it. Yummo! And, it's only $2.95 (that alcohol allergy of mine makes cruising cheap)!! The Library and the C&A study are both VERY comfy. Great leather chairs and big, beautiful windows. We waited there for a while until our cabins were open to put our things away. And, I snuck off there a few times to just chill. The C&A has a big screen TV that is usually on the news, if that's your cup of tea. Windjammer served almost everything they had in the Dining Room on formal night, and a lot of things they didn't. So, if you aren't into the formal thing, Windjammer was a wonderful alternative. That's all I can think of, right off the bat. OH, one more thing, they had a smoke free night in the casino. Nice for the nonsmokers. I, myself, didn't think it was ever too bad in there even when it was smoking allowed. But, for the extra-sensitive noses amongst us, good news, I'm sure! Now, I just wish I was back on her instead of talking about her. Sigh...

scubapro48 Posted January 22, 2008 #546 Share Posted January 22, 2008 Any news as to the power and AC issue on Enchantment. Love to here a update from those that got off today. Any new information? Anyone?:o
MtnBikerFallDown Posted January 22, 2008 #547 Share Posted January 22, 2008 Any new information? Anyone?:o Per another post I read, the electrical issues have been repaired, and cruises are now running on their regular schedules, not the reversed itinerary. We were on when it hadn't been fixed, and couldn't tell any difference, other than the reversed itinerary.
vermontvoyager Posted January 22, 2008 #548 Share Posted January 22, 2008 Any new information? Anyone?:o We got off the ship on 1/17 and were told by several of the ship's staff that repairs were to be made in port that day. They delayed embarking onto the ship by 2 hours later that day than they normally do and left port later than usual. So...hopefully things are fixed and running normal. Bob:)
SunRae Posted January 22, 2008 #549 Share Posted January 22, 2008 We were on the 1/17 sailing...we were on the ship at 1 and left on time. Our itinerary had been changed with a stop being made in Nassau instead of Coco Cay due to overbooking in Coco Cay and to make repairs in Nassau. (We were in Nassau on 1/18.) We didn't experience any problems with the A/C throughout the cruise and did not experience in delays in arriving to our ports. They made an announcement after Nassau that the ship had been repaired except for a few adjustments that they would finish up with in Key West. There was an awful lot of rocking (especially the last night!) but I think that was due to the weather.
