Oriana Fjords

Hi All

 

Just back off the Oriana cruise to the Fjords including Spitsbergen. It can only be described as a perfect cruise in relation to the ports and the weather. A bit of rain in Tromso but other than that mostly sunshine and blue skies.

 

We had Hamish Read as Captain and anyone going on a ship under his command is in for a treat. His helpful and funny information over the tannoy was a delight, and he was often seen about the ship making sure everyone was enjoying themselves. His participation in Give us a Clue one evening was wonderful.

 

The new mattresses are really comfortable and are about eight inches thick with nice duvets.

 

We booked the Aurora to Venice for next April while on board and checked the effects the smoking ban would have. We were told that things would remain pretty much the way they are with areas for smokers in some bars, and the usual nonsmoking venues that even a smoker like myself would agree with totally.

 

Though this was our sixth cruise it was the first time we had parked the car at Southampton having been previously given a lift down by relations. This was with CPS and we found them to be be very efficient.
