Self portrait photography on the Miracle?

We are sailing on the Miracle on 8/21 and would like to do some of our own group portraits. I was wondering if previous Miracle (or Spirit class) cruisers have any tips?

 

Where is a good spot to do this? We are looking for a place without too much traffic and has an interesting background. What time of day is best?

 

We will be taking a combination of digital, 35MM and medium format (6cm X 4.5cm). Yes, we do bring a few cameras with us on vacation. ;)

 

Also, any other tips for serious photography on Miracle would be appreciated.
