MercedMike Posted July 24, 2007 #26 Share Posted July 24, 2007 There are only two of us traveling together, me and my husband. The drive sounds like I would really like to try it. Is it still worth it for only two people cost wise? Also, where is the best place to stop and see the dog camps, if there is more than one between Skagway and Emerald Lake. Thanks, Jackie Sure - the car is less than $80, the train is at least $100 per person. As far as I know the only dog camp is at Caribou Crossing http://www.cariboucrossing.ca Have a GREAT cruise! Jackiealu Posted July 24, 2007 #27 Share Posted July 24, 2007 Thanks Mike, I always appreciate your information. I just read your trip report and what you did in Caribou Crossing. I am planning on trying to do the same things. Thanks again for your help. Jackie
carol459 Posted July 25, 2007 #28 Share Posted July 25, 2007 We Will Be On The Radiance In Sept..we Were Told Avis Is Closed In Sept... Is That Correct. Has Anyone Rented With Anyone Else In Skagway??????
leahsdad Posted July 25, 2007 #29 Share Posted July 25, 2007 I believe avis closes the 12th---only other option for rental would be sourdough---they have mixed reviews the biggest advantage of the car for us--other than the $$--is the fact that you can stop for as long as you want--last trip we watched a bear for about 30 minutes---the train keeps rolling as yu scramble for a photo he advantage of the train is 500 people all looking for the bear-lol jmho Paul
