On the 5 day / 4 night Western Caribbean Leaving from and returning to New Orleans, La. with a stop in Cozumel, my extended family is trying to figure out what events are planned by Carnival -- how many formal nights and on which nights, what is appropriate dress on formal night s (suit OK, sports coat OK?), any special nights - parades, wetern, pirates, etc. Any info would be appreciated!

I am taking the Fantasy on the 25th of October for the 4 day with 1 stop in Cozumel. You actually are counting the final day as the 5th day correct? This is my 1st time cruising so my info is what I have been told or read.

I understand and I may be wrong, but there is 1 "formal night" with what you would consider formal attire such as suits dresses etc... The rest of the dinners from what I have been told is slacks and a nice shirt for Males and the equivilent for females. Dress code comes up a lot on these boards.

As far as activities, I am not sure. I know there are thingssuch as minigolf, bingo, casinos etc... on the ship, but specifics on special activities I have none hopefully someone else will chime in I am anxious to know also.

  • 5 weeks later...

We did the Mardi Gras Pub Crawl on the Fantasy's July 5th cruise. It was fun, though not a ton of hoopla. It started at Cleopatra's piano bar where we had a drink and got some Mardi Gras beads of course. It's a pretty small place and it was pretty packed. The people were of all ages, from about 18-65 I would say....though most were probably about 25-45 I would guess.....

We then went to the 21st Century Bar and had another drink, followed by one more bar (can't remember the name right now, but there was a band in there playing music). Final stop was at the disco where the dance floor was PACKED. The crawl spent about 2-3 songs in most places, except for that bar that I can't remember the name of, we probably heard about 8 songs in that one.

The cruise's social host Papa Smurf and his assistanat Brock were the ones who took us around to each stop. They were fun and energetic (and cuties to boot, so that was good too).

Overall it was a fun hour or so and then we hung around a little bit more in the disco and watched our resident cruise drunk get escorted out by six security guys. Oh yeah, plus we watched our resident "old lady" who danced with everyone and everything....she was a HOOT!!!!!!! Really watching the people dance and get crazy was the highlight of our pub crawl I would say.

No theme nights, if that is what you are asking. Yes, there is a pub crawl... 1 formal night... there is a mexican buffet and deck party one night...

Yes we had fun on the Mardi Gras Pub Crawl....

Karaoke every night...don't forget karaoke!!!!

Also, Piano bar every night. A band playing in the Cat's Lounge. Solo performer in the Promenade by the Casino. Casino. Disco.

Shows which will include comedians etc.

But the best entertainment is just People Watching!!

One formal night. Hubby wears a suit, but a sports coat will be fine. He and the boys change back into shorts after dinner.

He wears Polo and Khakis the other nights.

Lots of fun. We did the 4 night in December and March. We are doing the 5 day in August.

Where is karaoke on the Fantasy? Is it a large crowd, or large room? When we were on the Conquest, it was held in a tiny little bar/room with very few seats. On other cruises, they held karaoke in larger rooms and more entertaining than on the conquest.

There was a country band at the Cat's Lounge last year - what sort of band do they have now? Country just seems wrong on so many levels for a cruise leaving out of NOLA!

The band in the Cat's Lounge (that's it!!!!) was a Phillipino (sp) band that played rock mostly. It was kind of funny actually to see them singing songs like "Play that Funky Music White Boy."

They were entertaining, it wasn't country that's for sure!!!

Karaoke is in The Forum Lounge. It is big...so no worries. We had a full house just about every night.

For those who care, it is held in a nonsmoking lounge, however, there is a smoking lounge right outside the door that is very convenient!!

Have a great time!

I have often said that if there was no karaoke...there would never have been American Idol. 10,000 people showed up for those auditions because for years, these "singers" have been doing karaoke and receiving praise and applause...regardless of their "abilities". Of course, all they heard was the applause.

I think it really came as a shock to some of them when the judges said "You have got to be kidding." Those are the folks I felt sorry for.

Now on a cruise ship....it is a different animal. None of us think we are professional...we just want to have a good time!!!!

Btw, don't ever rule out singing. Some of the most fun I have had is getting folks up on that stage (who never would have dreamed of doing that) as "back up singers" to Midnight Train to Georgia!!!

There is a little ole lady from Minnesota that was a hoot on the Spirit!!!

She swore up and down she would never do that...and she had a ball.
