Best way to communicate by home?

What is the best way to talk to someone back home if needed--phone card to use where, extend my cell phone or other idea?

Add international plan to your cell phone (make sure your ports are covered) then cancel international plan when you get back.

I just use my cell while onboard. Mine never worked in port, but while at sea no problem. There was a weird lag it seemed, and the price was high, but nowhere near as high as the stateroom phones.

Apart from that, either get international roaming for your cell, or just international calling cards and call from a pay phone in port.
