thymcruisers Posted August 17, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 17, 2004 We will be in Galveston the night before our -3/26/05 cruise - any suggestions for a clean, reasonably priced motel? What will the weather be like - any chance we will be swimming at the beach? We almost booked LaQuinta but after reading some reviews - decided not to. We did find a reasonable rate for Ramada - any comments regarding that motel? Any info on parking would be great too!!!!!!!!
KimberlyBear Posted August 17, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 17, 2004 This site has been recommend by other as being really good for hotels. I can't offer any first hand knowledge about hotels in the area. http://www.galveston.com/islandhotels/ The weather in march can be any where from rather cool (jacket requered) to really warm (shorts needed). Check the weather channel before you leave. The beach water will still be chilly but depending on your tollarence for cold water you can swim. If you are driving down the hotel may let you leave your car there. If not there are several parking lots that you can use. Here is a link to those http://www.texascruising.com/parking_gls.htm I will be happy to answer any questions kimberly
wintertexan Posted September 2, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 2, 2004 In April of 2003, we stayed at the Victorian Condo Hotel while on a 7-day cruise. I believe the rate was $129 a night (plus tax and $4.00 for some kind of condo fee). The rate was a cruise special and included parking in their lot for the entire time of the cruise, as well as a shuttle to and from the pier. The shuttle vehicle was an old school bus, but it's only a few minutes drive to the pier. Having a shuttle is a lot more convenient than parking in the nearby lots because the traffic around the pier when disembarking makes it really hard to get out of the lots. We liked the Victorian so much that we have again booked a room (actually a one bedroom suite) for April of 2005 when we'll be sailing on the Galaxy.
