Passport to Nowhere

Just read in the newspaper that P&O Cruises is not allowing passengers with United States passports, Israeli passports and those with Israel stamps on their passports from any country to cruise with them to any ports that include Libya or Lebanon. However, Holland America takes a strong line and has declined to call at Libyan ports this year. As P&O Cruises is 74 per cent owned by Carnival and I believe Holland America is also owned by Carnival, can anyone explain the logic??

Each line is independently operated. Princess Cruises is based in Southern California, Holland America is based in Seattle, and Carnival is in Miami.

Corporately, they are all under the Carnival umbrella, but each line makes up it's own itineraries.
