Luv_to_Cruise Posted July 9, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2007 We had a great time in Halifax... We took a taxi from the pier to the Citadel, about $5, with a $2 tip. Take the taxi and save your energy for exploring the Citadel and Halifax by walking downhill. The walk up to the Citadel is very steep. The Citadel is a living history museum, much like Williamsburg or Plimoth Plantation. There are plenty of historical exhibits, but there are live military drills and charges. You get the feeling of reallly being in a working military fort. I was nearly bayonetted by charging soldiers. They fire a cannon at Noon. Entrance fees are approximately $10.00 per adult. http://www.pc.gc.ca/lhn-nhs/ns/halifax/index_e.asp We walked down the steps from the Citadel to the center of town on Prince St. We found a great little restaurant called LITTLE FISH, 1740 Argyle Street. it was a bit pricey, but a great place. http://www.littlefishrestaurant.ca/ Next we did more exploring and found a great little brew pub. Prices for a pint here are really reasonable and it has been a long time since my husband had such a great microbrew. GRANITE BREWERY 1662 Barrington St http://www.granitebrewery.ca/ Next we explored the waterfront. Lots of stores, restaurants and shops. All in all a great deay in a lovely city with a really helpful Tourist Bureau. They even called a cab for us. Have a great time in Halifax!
