NCL Mastercard FAQ

The face of the card will be different. We will be part of the wonderful new and exciting (ha!) World Points program, where it will most likely take us 3 times as long to earn a free cruise, and they will tell us which cruises we can use our points on. I am searching for a different card....

Me too. I'm going to earn my last 500-point certificate and then be saying goodbye to my relationship with Bank of America. And sorry NCL, you're going to be losing most of my business as well.

IT's a good idea to let your TA know you've sent in certificates.

I am glad to hear BoA is allowing points to be combined. They never did that in the past. Maybe they're trying to be "nice" to placate all of us who plan to bail after December.

Yeah; I would think, though, most people that want to combine points wouldn't have the 2500 point minimum need to transfer. So, it's really an empty offer IMO.

If I am sending my certificates directly to NCL, should I notify my TA that I am not going to make a final payment because my certificates will cover it?

I've sent my certificates directly to NCL without notifying my online T/A and never had a problem doing so.

My latest statement will have 1106 points on it. I think I will cash in the $1000 and wave good bye to the 106 points and stop using the NCL card. :(

Trying to spend over $13000 that I otherwise wouldn't spend in the next 70 days to get $500 (396 points) off my April 2009 cruise is giving me a headache. If I had a few more months I could but not now... Oh well, it was good while it lasted.

I'll be the first to admit that you can't always trust the info you receive from phone representatives at places like BofA or NCL. So... for what it's worth, here is some new info for those of us with two or more NCL accounts at BofA who are interested in combining compass points when we have less than 2500 accumulated.

During a third or fourth call to folks at BofA last week, I finally asked to speak to someone in authority about combining points on separate accounts. This was after BofA said it was NCL's decision to not allow for combining and NCL telling us that it was BofA's decision to not allow the combining. I was not able to speak to anyone, but the representative sent an email to a customer service area, (apparently with more authority, or something), asking for an answer to my question and to let them know that I didn't appreciate the fact that no one would accept responsibility. I was told to call back in a week and a response would be posted in the notes section of our account.

Well, I called today. The rep today read the message to me that was posted to our account. In short, we were told that if we were willing to "consolidate" our accounts that they would be willing to combine the points on to one account. (Three $500s and two/three $100s is much better than two $500s and seven/eight $100s.) Since the program is ending, we really have no need for two accounts, so we will most likely take them up on the offer.

The fact that the info is posted on the account and not just a "verbal promise", I have a bit more confidence that what we have been told is accurate. Of course, only time will tell.

Hope this helps any of you who are in our situation.

Happy Cruising!

Anyone know if u purchase gift cards for gifts does that give u points?

Sure.. a lot of places such as Walmart take credit cards to buy gift cards. Some folks are buying grocery store gift cards now to use later in the year.

The next night, ask for $2000 in advance casino cash. Play or don't play.

The $4000 will be charged to your on-board account, but you'll still have (hopefully) the $4000 in cash.

You'll be getting 160 points on your NCL card for the cash advances.

I questioned this post on another thread but didn't get a response. So, I'm wondering if anyone has actually done this?

Forgive me if this has already been addressed...but I've been out of town for a few weeks.

For the compass rewards that will be automatically sent out...do we have any clarification as to when they will be dated?

I would like to use them in Jan/2010...but I'm guessing that they would have to be used in 2009?

Thanks for any help.

What happens to my Compass Rewards?

NCL is ending the Compass Reward program and as stated in the program terms and conditions, you will be issued a Compass Reward certificate(s) based on your December 31, 2008 point balance. Your final certificate(s) will arrive by mail on or before January 31, 2009. You will have one year from date of issue to apply the certificates to a booking, but you will be able to use them towards any NCL cruise before January 31, 2011. Compass Rewards points will not be transferred to the WorldPoints program.

Hello. I don't think I can get to 500 points by 12/31. Does anyone know what good two or three $100 upgrade certs are? Can you use more than one for a booking? This is frustrating.

Thanks for any advice. I don't have $7000 to put on gift certs to try to get to $500.

We have approximately 800 points on one of our NCL accounts. I called NCL yesterday and asked specifically what I would receive for the extra 300 points. I told them I knew I would receive a $500 certificate but wanted to know what EXACTLY I would receive in three $100 increments.

I explained that we had reservations in August 2009 for an Alaskan cruise on the Pearl and were already booked into a suite so upgrade coupons are of no use whatsoever. He assured me (after checking with a supervisor) that I would receive three $100 certificates that I could use the same way we use the $500 one, e.g., $300 off the price.

I have grave doubts about this but have any of you heard the same thing? Or, once again, can you call six times and get six different answers? Any knowledge would be appreciated. There is no way we will earn 200 more points before the end of the year and it would be great if we could take an extra $300 off the cruise price. Thanks.

Kathy
