scooterrach Posted July 14, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 14, 2007 Hi, I have read many posts that shopping in Vila, Vanuatu is great especially for DVD's and Games PC and Playstation. Is this true? And how much for say a recent DVD? Also I'm in a wheelchair and unable to use a taxi or go on any shore tours, are the shops fairly close to the port so I can get to them? Thank you for your help! <p align='center'><br><embed src='http://files.myspace-toys.com/Files/Gens/countdown/countdown/cndplayer.swf?skinn=http://files.myspace-toys.com/Files/Gens/countdown/countdown/skin6.swf&bg_mc=2525346&tcm=1be5a7&tcu=dc2184&msg=Pacific%20Dawns%20Pacific%20Treasures&tyear=2007&tmonth=11&tday=23&thours=16&tminutes=0&tseconds=0' wmode='transparent' quality='high' width='310' height='180' name='cndplayer'></embed><br><a href='http://www.poqbum.com/' target='_blank'><small>Create Your Own Countdown</small></a><br></p>

LouLou28 Posted July 16, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 16, 2007 We paid about AUD$10 or $12 (can't remember) for DVDs of movies that were still in the theatres back home. We warned the kids that they may not work - but lo and behold all of them worked fine! The quality was OK - not menus or extras of course! Apart from the distance from the ship to the shops ... the actual footpaths could cause a few problems for wheelchairs, by memory they were fairly uneven - with different levels and even low walls, gaps between some shops. chaz cruiser Posted July 16, 2007 #5 Share Posted July 16, 2007 Mum (Suey) purchased a Harry Potter DVD for some kids we met who were visiting Vila from Luganville and were very pleasant kids. However when we received the first letter from them they informed us that the DVD was in French!! Make sure you read the label really well. Cheers, Charmain
scooterrach Posted July 17, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted July 17, 2007 Thanks so much for your help! In relation to the footpaths, I've been to Bali many moons ago and just drove my chair on the road, the people were friendly enough so I got around pretty good. I think I'll have to buy my carer some Rollerblades though ! lol
