Tipping on QM2

I wouldn't extra tip bartenders but I have been reasonably generous to winewaiters in the past, $5 per bottle, and then they have been generous to me - no corkage charge.

If the average bottle of wine generally ordered is about $30 then $5 is marginally better than the 15% a sommelier would earn.

Maybe I'll step it up a bit next time to about $8 per bottle, then thats a positive incentive.

Everybody wins, sommelier gets a good cash tip, I get to drink the wine I actually like which is not available on board, I suppose the cruise line loses out but they get enough from me anyway.

there is no sense in additional tipping if you have paid the automatic tip on your bill, i entirely agree with the earlier poster, it is not the responsibility of paying passenger on their holiday to fund the wage structure of a huge multi national company. I always hate the last night of a cruise when the staff seem to almost line up begging for money, envelopes with cash left for a Maitre de(sic) that u have had no contact with. Ridiculous.
