Turkey lira

I am going on a private tour August 8th and am wondering if I need to get any lira ahead of time? If so where is the best place to go. Thank you

Do you mean just a private shore excursion? If you stick to the usual tourist areas, there should be no need for Turkish lira. If you are with a private guide, they will normally pay the entrance fees for you in Tlira and you reimburse in US$. Same for a lunch stop. However, be sure to check with your guide in advance.

Have a GREAT cruise!

Hi Merced Mike,

You should email your tour guide and ask what they will accept for payment of your tour. Most of the Turkish guides are very willing to accept USD.

I have organized 3 private tours in Istanbul and Ephesus and our tour guide said that we can pay in USD. He will purchase the admission tickets to the sights and that must be paid in local currency and we will reimburse him in USD. They just use the current exchange rate at the time of your tour.

Hope this helps.

Mary
