Spirit Cabin 8500 or 8000

cod

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Has anyone stayed in one of these cabins? Seen one? Heard about one? Any info at all?!?! This same question is kind of hidden in another posting so I'm hoping that putting the cabin numbers out there will help.

We were booked in an inside cabin in November but had to cancel. I rebooked this cruise for January (I have a BOA coupon that I need to use) and since the outsides weren't much more than an inside, I went that route this time. Then, the outside categories were all the same price so I opted for a CC. Then I saw these 2 bigger (?) cabins and chose one of them!! My cruise planning all in a nutshell!

Any info/advice would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

I'm curious as well (posted in the other thread as well).

We've booked both 8000 & 8500 on the Spirit for our February cruise out of New Orleans.

From what I've seen (pics on cruisestateroom.com) the rooms are just simply larger than all the others in the same category. And larger by a lot (~75 sq ft).

I posted pics I found in one of the older threads, the rooms are layed out with things spread out but otherwise the same as other CC rooms.

Our only concern really is being so far forward.

Okay, preds and cruiserssandr, here's my plan. Of the 3 of us, I'm first. I will report back here on January 13th with "a report-about & photos-of" this mystery cabin.

That is my husband's concern too....motion being so far forward. But since neither of us gets seasick (where's wood) I would gladly chance that for more cabin space.

I'm so curious about this cabin that I'm not even hoping to get "THE CALL"! I don't care if we're offered an AA for next-to-nothing! I wouldn't know how to act in a suite anyway. It would be like the time American moved us to business class on an overseas flight...we didn't even ask for it...I think coach was over-sold. Now whenever we take a long flight I'm at the check-in counter, begging to be upgraded...it's pitiful!! If I ever cruise in a suite, I'll probably be 'ruined' forever.

All kidding aside. perhaps we'll still get a first hand report based on this thread.

Sounds great... I've debated upgrading to a balcony for that cruise, but those 2 oceanview cabins are actually 60sq ft bigger!

I have to admit, I'm as surprised as you that nobody on CC has sailed these cabins before and posted about them afterwards.

I just returned from the 8 day cruise on Sunday we were booked in this cabin. The cabin is very big, lots of floor space. We really liked the location, seemed to be central to everything. The only thing I would point out is that the bow walkway on deck 8 is covered and and the voices echo, a few times we had kids out there talking really load and you could hear it in the cabin. Other than that would book this cabin again.

My kids were in Cabin 8001 and I would not reccomend that cabin, the casino is on the other side, and my kids complained that the music was really loud during the wee hours of the morning. We inquired at the front desk, and were told that there was nothing they could do other than offer us ear plugs. Caution to anyone booking that room!

I should also add that Cabin 8000 has room for 4 even though it is listed for 3, there is a drop down bunk and a chain that converts to a bed. Good thing with all the noise going on in room 8001, we had one kid switch to our room.

Thanks for the information on 8000. I would guess 8500 would look the same and have the same noise factor outside.

I notice that the deck plans do put the casino and after hours club below and forward of the area of your cabin and the one your children stayed in. Did you hear any of the music?

Glad you had a good time.

We could not hear the music from the casino, it seemed to be a problem for all the cabins directly against the casino. We were not alone in the complaints department for those cabins (8001, etc.). One night my daughter woke me up to come and listen, it was about 3:00am and the bass was pounding, you could hear the words to the music. That night, I grabbed her blankets and brought her back to our room so she could get some sleep. I don't know why the ship cannot lower the music after a certain hour say...1:00am, I don't that would be too much to ask.

Otherwise, it was a great trip, enjoyed the ship and the ports.

Have a great time!

Thanks tewmom,

Alas, I am now skeptical though it is still a 'go' at this point. Motion is no problem but even an outside chance of noise is.

Hmmm, I might have to consider that AA should "the call" come in.

Thanks again.

Well, we're out for reviewing these 2 rooms. Despite their large size (225sqft each), we've decided we'd prefer some fresh air from a balcony (having spent much of our recent Alaska cruise sitting outside on one).

Thus we've changed rooms to a Balcony and an inside across the hall, midship on deck 10 near the middle staircase. We saved nearly $200 in the process. The Balcony cabins are only 161sqft plus a 40 feet balcony, but we did get a larger inside that is 175sqft (instead of the standard 143). Neither will be the same as the huge oceanview rooms that are cabins 8000 and 8500, but then again, with our kids preferring to spend tons of time with the kids clubs, it will give my wife and I more peaceful time to relax outside on our balcony, something we really enjoyed on our past cruise.

Anyhow, if anyone is looking for these room,s they've just opened up for President's week 2008!

I tried very hard to get one of these cabins. We need a quad cabin on the Spirit and since they are the largest ocean view cabins, I thought that I would try to get NCL to allow 4 in the cabin. They said NO! The reasoning was because the crib was blocking access and would not allow the 4th bed. I tried to explain that I was not aware that there was a crib in there. After lots of tries and supervisors swearing that there was a crib in the cabin and it could not be removed to accomodate a 4th bed, I gave up.

We really loved our cruise on the Spirit in 2006 so we decided to book a suite with an adjoining balcony cabin. Since the balcony cabins and the suites also do not accomodate 4, we felt that this was our best option.
