palmettogirl Posted July 21, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 21, 2007 Anyone been to the flamenco show Tablao de Carmen in Barcelona on the mountain of Monjuic?? Was it good? Did you have dinner and was the food good? What is the best way to get to it from Las Ramblas (Hotel Continental Palacete)? Also, did you see the Magic Fountains there - were they close by? Thanks for any answers (or if you saw another flamenco show)!!
CruisinGerman Posted July 22, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 22, 2007 Greetings from our home city of Barcelona. Don't go to a flamenco show here. Flamenco is not a part of Catalán culture. Therefore, the few flamenco venues here in Barcelona are geared exclusively to foreign tourists who associate the word flamenco with Spain, no matter what part of Spain they happen to be in at the time. Flamenco is much better in Seville, Córdoba and even Madrid. The flamenco venues here in Barcelona are mediocre and tend to exist solely to rip off foreign tourists. Kind regards, Gunther and Uta
kruzin' Posted July 22, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 22, 2007 :) having toured Barcelona last year would you recommend Montserrat or Montjuic if you wanted a easy day ? I understand Montserrat is 1hr away after you make it to Placa d Espana Metro station then you have to ride a funicular etc...we will be in port dec 8th from 9-5pm what do you suggest?:) Greetings from our home city of Barcelona. CruisinGerman Posted July 23, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 23, 2007 If you are not yet familiar with Barcelona, stay with Montjuic as that is right inside the city, and you can combine it with touring where the Olympic stadiums are, beautiful views of the city, the famous fountains below, etc. The other option you mention is an excursion that is at least one hour outside of Barcelona depending upon traffic -- so just doing the math -- an hour to go, an hour to return, you are cutting into your touring time immensely if you are only here for one day. Of course, if you have already been to Barcelona several times, that would be a good option. If not, there is enough to do here considering the very few hours you will be in Barcelona.
