Rccl 9/14 Xplorer Why Itinerary Change?

Maybe you can find the answer here in the newspaper links.

Hi All-

I am not booked on this cruise but I have just found out that there has been an itinerary change. EOS will no longer be stopping in Newport, RI. She will now be stopping in New London, CT instead.

Here is a link to a newspaper article stating the change of itinerary.

I live directly across the river from New London (in Groton, CT). I would be happy to answer any questions you may have but I am not sure how long EOS will be in port so it may be difficult to give recommendations on non-ship excursions.

For those of you who enjoy casinos we have two of the largest casinos in the world (Mohegan Sun, and Foxwoods) both located within 1/2 hour of New London. I would not be surprised if the casinos run busses from the port to the casinos. My personal preference is the Mohegan Sun and it is located closer to the port than Foxwoods.

There are many other attractions in the local area. The historic whaling village of Mystic has many attractions Mystic Seaport, Mystic Aquarium, and Olde Mistik Village are three of the largest attractions and all are within walking distance of one another.

Here is a link to the Mystic Country web-site. It is the Southeastern, CT tourism web site. It should give you a good overview of area attractions.

I hope you enjoy your visit. Maybe I'll see you around New London County.:)

Hi Lisa ~ Where are you seeing the excursion and price for Mystic? When I log onto RCCL's website, it's telling me no shore or land excursions available for this port. I'd love to see a listing of options available. thanks!

Thanks for the link to the excursions! Can anyone tell me how 'Old Mystic Village' differs from 'Mystic Seaport'? Are they close to each other? We're looking to spend a nice day shopping with lunch. Any suggestions?

Hi Ken ~ Can you advise the best way to get to Mystic Seaport from the pier in New London? How far is it? Great restaurants in Mystic? Shopping? Thanks for your help!

I posted this, as we rec'd it from Ken. I am still waiting to find out about the taxi situation. He posted this on our thread 8/31/07 post # 26.

There are a few websites for Mystic.

added, By clikcing on the link I see that there is a charge to do several things in Mystic from as low at the teens up to 31.00$. So the rest of it goes for transportation and to Rcl. Sounds a little better now.
