We love the beach and were just planning to take a taxi to one. Any suggestions which beach or if there are any other family friendly things we should try? Did you check out this board: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=93 Peruse the list and i'm sure you'll find all kinds of information & which activity would be age appropriate. St. Maarten is one of my favorite islands to visit. Very pretty. If you will be there on Sunday, the French side is pretty closed up. The Dutch side always has something going on. nolyd Posted July 30, 2007 #5 Share Posted July 30, 2007 Last Feb. my family went to Le Galion Beach when we were in St. Martin. My daughter, 6, and son, 10, had a great time. The water was very calm so my son was able to practice snorkeling a bit. The beach was not crowded and very family friendly. You can rent chairs and umbrellas and there is a beach side restaurant right there that makes the most delicious smoothies! All in all it was a wonderfully relaxing day! abitaturbodog Posted August 5, 2007 #6 Share Posted August 5, 2007 Little Divi Bay is where I'd go. It's about 5 minutes from the dock, but a whole 'world' away! It's quiet, free and beautiful. A taxi will cost less than $10 and when you get to the beach, walk all the way to the left to be near the rock outcropping. There will be chairs and unbrellas that you can sit at (Free!). The hotel behind you sells drinks and food if you want. The water is clear and calm and the snorkeling is fantastic, especially if you follow the rocks out into the water a bit. We saw squid! Really! There are some small sunken boats and anchors, etc out in the water and my kids were fascinated. I've been to a couple of places in St. Martin with my family (kids 9 &10) and Little Divi is the best for the price (again, FREE!), beach and snorkeling. We have been to St. Marten and always rent a car.......however not this time....... The kids are 12, 11, 8 and feel safer (because they are grandkids) on a Carnival excursion..... As you are looking at the ocean, a clothing optional resort is on the far right and a clothing required is at the far, far left. It's a great beach. On the French side of the island, you will see European bathers. On the Dutch side, conservative tops on (U.S style beaches.) Have a great cruise!
