Just back Liberty 7/21

Here's some (not so) brief thoughts....

Henry is alive and well on Liberty.

The staff and crew are wonderful, very friendly!!

Dining room service was great, we had Davut and Anil on the third level, 2nd seating.

Dining room food was good, would have liked a little more variety in the main courses.

Portofino was awesome...Chops was a disapointment. The filet was excellent, but all the sides were cold. The waiter (can't remember his name) was extremely condesending. When we mentioned that to Davut our waiter in the main dining room, we returned to our cabin the next morning to find a note of apology and 2 bottles of wine from the manager of Chops. Nice touch and great customer relations, we thought.

We had a D2 cabin, I thought it was a very comfortable size with plenty of storage space.

Bedding is awesome, although the pillow wasn't quite as plump as I like (that's probably just a little picky on my part)

Dining room coffee, specialty restaurants coffee and Seattle's best are good, Windjammer is awful.

Johnny Rockets is really a good time...try to go when it first opens and early in the week, otherwise you'll have to wait for a table.

Entertainment is outstanding, the best we've seen on any cruise. The Platinum theater is really great and set design are well done.

Meet and mingle was fun, Liberty put out a nice spread of food and non-alcoholic drinks. Activities director Abe came (he's moving on to be a cruise director on another ship) he's very pleasant and we enjoyed chatting with him. He says his Mom reads the CC boards...so Mom, Abe's doing a great job :)

Our room attendant was great!

Room service was always prompt.

People leave their dirty dishes all over the hallways, yuk!!

We didn't care for San Juan at all, walked to the fort and looked in some stores, but really would never go back there again. Senor Frogs was fun, though.

St Maarten, loved it! It's beautiful, and clean. We did the America's cup regatta, it was a blast. The excursion is very well run and the crew on the boats are lots of fun. DH was a primary grinder and I was the main sail trimmer. We were on Stars and Stripes and we won! ;)

Labadee is also a beautiful place. DH did the wave runner and snorkled while I floated around on my mat....very relaxing.

Eastern Itinerary...3 sea days might be too much in the summer, even though we're from FL, it's too hot to be out in the sun by the pool all day.

Liberty...she's beautiful, and most of the time you don't feel very crowded. There are times when the elevators are busy, but that true of any ship, I think.

OK, here's the annoying part. There was a huge number of teens on this cruise. Now by far the majority of them were well behaved, however, there were a few nights at 3-4 am that they were running up and down the hallways yelling. My question, didn't the parents know they weren't in their cabins??

Dress in the dining room...I know this is always a question on this board...on Liberty anything goes. I'm not passing judgement here, just stating a fact, jean shorts were worn at the 2nd seating every night. There were also a lot of VERY young children and babies at the second seating. I have to give the head waiter a lot of credit here, DH and I and my DB and SIL were to be seated in an area that was surrounded by 4 tables of babies and young children. The first night the head waiter asked if we would like to move to a quieter area. Kudos for a proactive thought....

We didn't use the casino.

The parades and Dancing in the streets are fun.

They are still giving out wipes at all food venues...I did get a little nervous, I went into the Ladies room outside the Winjammer after lunch one day and they were cleaning up (as they put it) a "poop accident". But I never heard anything about anyone being sick. It did make my DH feel really paranoid having to wipe and spray and wash constantly.

Here's a hint...when you return from a port always walk past the first bank of elevators and go to the bank on the starboard side...nobody goes over there!!!

There weren't little children in the Solarium :)

The chair hogs were out in full force...even in the Platinum theater

Again, I can't say enough about the crew. We met and had long conversations with many of them throughout the week. They would always remember you when they saw you again. The service on the ship was truly outstanding.

I agree, the crew was great. They were hard working and nice. :) I meet a lot of them too and they were all friendly. Abe was on our cruise too, he did our party also.
