sjohnson529 Posted July 30, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 30, 2007 Definately ask for the Carnivale Dining Room (George the Greek is incredible). The food/service on this ship was wonderful. The best food we had was the warm chocolate melting cake, all of the soups, short ribs were incredible, as was the duck. The casino was nice, we didn't win, but we had a great time. Sorry to say we didn't go to any of the shows but someone else may be able to help you with that. The ports we did were Grand Caymay and Calica, and in Calica we did Xcaret which was a "do not miss" in our opinion. We had a great time. Any other questions feel free to ask. lilrosie Posted July 31, 2007 #5 Share Posted July 31, 2007 Be sure and be on the funnel deck when going under the Tampa Bridge..it is amazing..(usually right close to 6:15) so consider this when booking dinner time you can see it from Dining room windows but you do not get the full effect..The Carnivale Dining room is beautiful...George the greek is a blast..Comedian Kenny Miller ..hmm..boring...Big Tony Esposito is hysterical (he lives in Same county as I do..Levy County Florida) The hot tubs in the spa rarely get used..so a great place to go to relax..the kids stay in the one by the pool..and security is hit and miss about making them get out..casino is ok..my mom won 600 on slots..only to donate it back at the end of the cruise...I have been to Calica (rock pit) Cozumel...absolutely loved..grand cayman too expensive not enough time (this is a tender port) we went to chaknaab park while in Cozumel..beautiful, swam with dolphins, had some authentic mexican food (yummy) drank and swam..wonderful..wonderful day.. When we were on the CD was Reesa..personally did not like her..but thats m/o the waitstaff are wonderful always smiling and cleaning something..do go to the captains gala party and past guest party (you can order whatever drink you want) we each had 3 drinks each during these..never a problem.. oh and be sure and get your lanyards from casino..pens, cards, and stationary at the pursers desk..they run out quickly they will punch a hole in your sail and sign card in the casino for you to put on the lanyard..hope this helps Inspiration is my favorite ship!!! luvcruising63 Posted July 31, 2007 Author #7 Share Posted July 31, 2007 Thank you all so much for the TERRIFIC information.. I will take it all with me and try to make this cruise as special as the others.. My hubby was worried about the ship being a little older, but I'm sure we'll love it just fine. Happy sailing all even if only in our dreams!

sjohnson529 Posted July 31, 2007 #9 Share Posted July 31, 2007 I wonder if he moved to another ship? He was there in May. We rebooked for February because we loved the Inspiration so much, but of course if George isn't there it definately won't make or break the cruise. sjohnson529 Posted August 1, 2007 #11 Share Posted August 1, 2007 I know it's not quite the same, but when the ship goes under the bridge they stop dining service and open up the draperies so you can see it. We had early dinner also, which turned out to be a great choice for us.
Shike Posted August 1, 2007 #12 Share Posted August 1, 2007 I read in one review where George had a heart attack on board. Maybe he retired??
b2108mortars Posted August 1, 2007 #13 Share Posted August 1, 2007 I'm cruising on the Inspiration with my girlfriend at the end of this month. Everything I've read about the ship has been positive so far. While it would have been nice to be one of the first to cruise on it after it gets refit, I've heard that it's still in nice condition. Does anyone know what to expect in regards to on board entertainment? Do they still do skeet shooting on cruise ships?
Shike Posted August 1, 2007 #14 Share Posted August 1, 2007 I haven't seen one mention of Skeet shooting. Would love to if they do.
lilrosie Posted August 1, 2007 #15 Share Posted August 1, 2007 No they do not have skeet shooting on Inspiration..George the Greek may have just been on vacation...the last time we were on was in October not long after he had heart attack...talked to him he said he felt a lot better and was actually eating better watching his diet...for shows watch the El Caribe (actually was pretty good) and I liked the flaming gauchos..very good...they have the usual..games...ex: newlywed..not so newlywed..bingo...and of course Red Team..vs Blue Team...poolside games...hairy chest...scavenger hunt...alligator wrestling...in Oct..they had the Halloween trick or treating for kids..and costume contest for adults and kids...(That was a blast) so if in Oct..take a costume...we wore ours to dinner..the Waiters and Matre D LOVED IT!!!Sorry so long..I truly Love this Ship and cannot wait to go back after her refurbishment..I would get on it tomorrow if had the funds..lol
estebofarr Posted August 2, 2007 #16 Share Posted August 2, 2007 Just so you know, the bridge is called the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.
jpmaximus Posted August 2, 2007 #17 Share Posted August 2, 2007 The Inspiration was my second cruise and it had been 6 years since my first. All i can say is the cruise was terrific. The ship which i was worried would be dated having launched in 1996 looked new! I loved the decor, and wait until you see the atrium lit up at night. I couldnt stop staring at the lights. She is drydocking soon so they can add mini-golf to the upper deck and they will do touch ups and repairs to anything not up to par. Love the Inspiration!
