traveling with an infant

NCL Kids Crew are for children two years of age and over. So if you are bringing a younger child keep these things in mind.

A. NCL does not offer a baby sitting service.

B. NCL does not offer diapers.

C. Children have to be potty trained to use the pools.

The reason why NCL does not offer baby sitting is for legal reasons. I would not trust my baby with strangers either. Child care over two is another story than baby sitting in my cabin. If you travel with children under two there is a good possibiliy you will be stuck with the child the entire cruise.

It is definitely not a problem to bring a 9 month old. Cruising is probably your best bet with a baby - only have to pack up all their stuff once. We cruised NCL with our son as a 3 month old, 11 month old, and in two weeks as a 19 month old. Just be sure to pack everything you will need. Also, be prepared that you will have to switch off with your husband/wife on certain activities (such as casino).

When he was three months, he still slept in a basinet (sp?) that was part of his carriage, but on the next cruise we used NCL's crib (be sure to reserve one) as we will for Alaska in two weeks.

Any other questions, please post and I will try and answer. Just ignore the naysayers who will surely post about the impropriety of such a young traveler.

I believe a baby needs to be 6 months in age before they can sail on NCL ships. So, NCL isn't going to prevent a 9 month old child from sailing. In fact, they encourage it.

But, Don is also correct, Kids Crew will not accept children less than 2 years old, and no one will change the diapers. That's your responsibility.

Otherwise, the crew will dote over the baby at every opportunity. So have a great cruise. :)

  • 6 months later...

Hi, we are bringing our baby to NCL Hawaii cruise this November. And our daughter will be 13 month-old by then. This is our first time travel with her both by plane and cruise. Can anyone gives us some tips or share their experience about traveling with a one year old? Thank you so much!

Check out the Family board. If you post your questions over there you will get a lot more input:)

You know Don, there are some of us who don't mind being "stuck" with our children while on vacation:D
