Liberty of the Seas REVIEW + IMAGES

We just went on our first cruise aboard the Liberty of the Seas, I post about 200 images here - http://family.webshots.com/album/560067073RmUscz please ignore the images of me acting like an idiot. I was just excited.... =)

Thanks for the review. I tend to disagree with you on the food. I thought it was excellent on ours, except for the coffee. Did the water/coffee mix and it was a little better. And as far as extra charges go, they seemed to have the same distribution as most ships. Had soft ice cream and standard coffee, you pay extra for the good stuff in the store on the promenade. Pay for drinks, except for a cup of water (anyplace) and ice tea (in the food venues.)

 

Thought the service was excellent, considering the crew is a new creation (pieced together with experienced implants and new crew.)

 

As far as Carnival goes, have tried both. they have a good product, but I always seem to come back to RC.

The food in the Windjammer was what I was speaking about, everything else was good. But the Windjammer was to much like cafeteria food. The Coffee was very strong my wife said, I don't drink coffee.

 

I loved the dining room but waiting 3 hours for a 5 course meal was to long. Our waiter was just really bad. If you get a good waiter it would be very nice to eat there every night. We ate at Johny Rockets one night and about killed ourself. The food is so good but so BAD for you, lol. Just make sure you leave room for the Oreo sundae! Yummy

Thanks for your review and for showing your pictures, can't wait until October (halloween cruise) no questions except what did you spend $2100 on?? :) If you like cruising also try princess cruises from my experience the food is that much better

In the Windjammer, did you try anything on the fresh salad bar, the freshly sliced meats, sandwiches or any of the other hot entrees? When we were on the Liberty, the selections in the Windjammer were so vast that we had a hard time choosing.

 

Also, did you get any of the sandwiches, cookies and treats in the Cafe' Promenade? Did you try Sorrentos for the izza and other treats? There is no cost for those, since it is included in the price of the cruise.

 

Sorry that the food was a disappointment. Glad you enjoyed the cruise.

$2100 sea pass bill...WOW the most we have every spent was $1500, and that's with the 2 of us drinking heavily every night and the kids arcade bill, gratuities for 4 and dinner for 7 in Portofino's!!

I talked to a woman who has been on 8 cruises, she said she was not happy with RC and would be doing Carnival from now on. She said she had way more fun with Carnival. All in all we had a good time, it was a nice vacation, but next time just to weigh the options we plan to try Carnival. We got off the ship with a $2100 bill from all the extra stuff we did.

 

 

 

well everyone i have ever talked to says if you go with RC first then Carnival you won't like Carnival, RC is alot nicer Carnival is a cheaper cruise.

 

also we are leaving in 13 days and plan on taking $2,000.00, i hope that is enough?

The 4 wheeler excursion was $178

Bought my wife some nice earings

Chops and Portofinos was $65 each

Bought the $8 coke card

Went to eat at rockets - $45

A few movies which were $12 each

Had to get Internet access for work $150

Bought some random clothing, shoes, etc

Purchased some virgin drinks

Had ice cream one night - $14

Had a few of the mixed GOOD coffee drinks - $14

Etc and so on.......

As you can see from my images I'm not a huge salad freak. =)

 

Pizza is my favorite food and Sorrentos was like normal freezer pizza to me. To much crust, sauce not so good and to much cheese. But again this is just ME being picky.

 

Some of the other things in Windjammer were ok but it is not my favorite place to eat. Now if they had foods like in Chops or Portofinos for us to choose then we would be spoiled! We LOVE those restaurants, amazing food and presentation.

lol yah I spent $60 on the slots and didn't win a dime, but I never gamble (until now) so I guess I just didn't know what I was doing.

 

Anyway, the cruise is still amazing, anyone who has NEVER been will be BLOWN AWAY!

Keep in mind we did 2 high price excursions and I bought my wife some jewelry. I guess all those other men by the shops buying their wife stuff get's you into trouble.

 

I had a problem when my wife heard a woman telling her husband "One is $1700 and the other is $2500" and he said "Get whatever you want honey or both" lol that did it in for me and it was either I pony up a little cash and be extra sweet or no more goodies for the rest of the cruise. =)

Yah I was just saying what that girl said to us, but keep in mind she was younger so it was better for her because she was around a younger crowd. I doubt I will go on ANYTHING again except for Liberty of the Seas or something larger. I just can't see getting on a smaller ship now.

 

$2000 should be plenty, remember you can check your account and what you have spent anytime from your television in your room.

LOL, yah I gained a ton of weight, that was from all the SWEETS I never eat and decided to eat during the cruise.

 

Keep in mind, I gained all that weight and still worked out every other day for over an hour. *OUCH*

Get the Liberty for sure, it's an amazing ship and you can just go around it for hours if you have nothing else to do. Keep in mind me and my wife don't drink at all and we NEVER got bored.

 

BTW I get seriously sick in the car driving if I try to read or if I'm in the back. I was VERY worried about getting sea sick. We went through a few storms, had some rough seas and never felt the ship moving much at all.

 

BTW incase I missed it above, the bathrooms are pretty large and the showers rock, I thought they would be really tiny and they are actually pretty big.

My DH and I aren't going until Nov next year - but, which beach did you go to while in St. Marten?... What did you do in San Juan?... Did you feel safe walking around by yourselves?

There is no way that you can compare a casual buffet to Chops, Portofino or The Cheesecake Factory. As a matter of fact, the Cheesecake Factory is not even in the same league as Chops or Portofino. :confused: (we have a few here in Atlanta, so I know)

 

I suggest that next time you try having lunch in the dining room. It may provide the dining experience you are accustomed to.
