Rowan555 Posted July 31, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 31, 2007 "We're glad to hear your sailing again! We have placed you on our OPC guest list for your upcoming sailing. Hope you have a great cruise, and the best of luck while spending time in the Casino!" What exactly does this mean? So we're on the "OPC Guest List" but I have no idea what good that does us. Quicker registration for the Ocean Players Club card, or what? My dh always visits the casino quite a bit on our cruises, but he's never signed up before. denb Posted July 31, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 31, 2007 One tip : When you get on board, find one of the casino hosts and introduce yourself. Tell him/her you're interested in a 'goody bag'. Use your card whenever you play to show you're 'contributing', and to collect cash rewards for play. On the last night, find the host again and ask for your goody bag. It contains some of the items you'll see in the OPC glass case in the casino. (i.e. OPC logo shirts, dice, cards, key chains, baseball hats, etc.) Make your presence known to the host whenever you're in the casino and they'll probably buy you a drink once in a while, too. disclaimer: Your Mileage May Vary, especially depending on the host you happen to get on your ship and your amount of play
cigpooh Posted July 31, 2007 #5 Share Posted July 31, 2007 I got the same email so I am looking forward to finding out what that means..... Rob42 Posted July 31, 2007 #6 Share Posted July 31, 2007 I also got this email from OPC so I wrote back and asked what this "on the OPC List" was. The response I got was they will be decorating cabin with bon Voyage, and will be little extras in the cabin upon embarkation. That tell's me that they know I donate quite abit in the casino each cruise.
sinkers22 Posted July 31, 2007 #7 Share Posted July 31, 2007 I've been trying to contact the Casino Manager through OPC and have had no luck. It wants a previous booking #, in addition to my current one, which I no longer have and my membership #. It's been over a year since I joined and have no idea what my membership # is? It won't let me send the email. Anyone have any ideas? Last year we got a great fruit basket and Bon Voyage decorations.

I was having trouble regestering too, even though I knew all that stuff so I just emailed them all of the information that they were asking for and I got the same email. I usually donate quite a bit and have almost always gotten a few drinks plus tote bag, cards and a mug once.

I've always gotten one just by emailing 10 days before I'm ready to sail, introducing myself to the Casino Host once on-board, and always saying hello to him/her each and every time (which is every night) I'm in the casino. Depending on who it is, I have gotten a couple of free drinks throughout the week but I've always gotten the "goody bag".... I'm not sure I have the nerve to actually ask for it so I'm sooooooo glad they have given them to me... :)
MszKitty Posted July 31, 2007 #13 Share Posted July 31, 2007 Prior to going on our cruise on the Pride 2 weeks ago, my husband wrote to the Casino Host. As a matter of fact, he wrote to him twice, once about 4 months out and again about 2 weeks out. When the casino opened on the first day, Hubby introduced himself right away. And he got nothing!... no "goody bag", no decorations, no free drinks...nada! And my husband plays in the casino ALOT...playing at the $25 minimum tables. And his bets are well over the $25 minimum. The casino host knew him by name, and knew our daughters by name too because they like to sit with Dad and play blackjack (which Dad 'sponsors' them...lol). He was always friendly to all of us, but we never received anything special from him. So I guess it just depends on which Casino Host you get on your ship. angelkisses Posted July 31, 2007 #14 Share Posted July 31, 2007 I wrote to the casino host on the elation prior to our last cruise. We had never sailed Carnival before and was not a member of the Players Club however they had a "goodie" bag waiting for us when we introduced ourselves at the casino. It included key chains, hats, t-shirts and playing cards.

Smiling Cruiser Posted July 31, 2007 #16 Share Posted July 31, 2007 Last November we had a beautifully decorated room and a fruit basket. I love to play in the casino but I am sure I am by no means their biggest contributor. I think that the hosts decorate rooms or present gifts randomly. This is a very generous gesture on their part. Let them know that you are coming and keep your fingers crossed for a pleasant surprise.
marym933 Posted July 31, 2007 #17 Share Posted July 31, 2007 I emailed the host my last cruise and got nothing. I, too, got the "you are on the list" email this time. I sail Thursday, August 2 on a 4 day Celebration cruise. I'll let you all know!
sorcamc Posted July 31, 2007 #18 Share Posted July 31, 2007 OK, so what are we talking about when you say "donation". And what makes a "player"? Are we talking $500 a night? I am not really a gambler, so I don't really know. Just curious
Wennfred Posted July 31, 2007 #19 Share Posted July 31, 2007 OK, so what are we talking about when you say "donation". Smiling Cruiser Posted August 1, 2007 #22 Share Posted August 1, 2007 $500 a night?????? Try $200 a cruise at the max. Doesn't matter whether the cruise is 5 days or 10 days. I'm just not giving that much money away. I also expect to play for a long time and win a little before I give it back. (And bless them-they still decorated our room and sent us a fruit basket. We never expected it and remembered to say thank you.)
