waiting time

Reguarding the cruises to South America. When you disembark it is usually around 8:30 to 9:00 am. I have checked most of the flights from South America back to the states leave around 10:00pm. What do you do with your luggage for 8-9 hours? I do not believe it is safe to leave it out of your sight and if that is the case do you just sit in the airport that long? Thank you.

Pipster - There will probably be some type of shore excursion from the port that will tour Sao Paulo and then drop you off at the airport late afternoon.

Actually we've booked a day room at a hotel near the airport for approx $45. We will relax around the pool, take a nap, shower, change to clean clothes and then head to the airport for our overnight flight. The hotel offers shuttles from/to airport.
