cruise to nowhere

Many years ago when they started doing cruises to nowhere they were all inclusive. It was a great 2 day party and even though all the alcohol was included we did not see many that really went overboard. It was alot of fun. At the time it cost about 200 for an inside including taxes, tip, and all you can drink!! They were the good old days. Cindy

Sorry no alcohol included. I took the CTN last Oct and while it was nice, it was way too short. It's really only a day and a half. Everything will be open though, casino, shops. There will be 2 shows, formal night on the 2nd/last night. No gala midnight buffet though.

Thanks for the info everyone. Will we be able to "check" our bags? Or, is it carry on only?

Thanks!

Carry on only. No porters. You are talking about the CTN out of NYC right? That's the one I took. I don't know about the embarkation/debarkation for the one out of Norfolk.

HI Sandi

This is ironic.. Our anniversary is coming up and we were going to go to a nice hotel, massages etc.. Instead we booked the NCL cruise to nowhere from NYC... Price was cheaper for the two of us than a NYC hotel.. What do you think about NCL ?

The only thing I know about NCL is that it has freestyle. My sister in laws friend has been on NCL and she really likes it.

I'm sure you will have a great time. Is it the 2 nighter or the 1 nighter, I believe NCL has both. Carnival just does the 2 nighter and out of NY it's only the end of Oct before the repo cruise when the Miracle moves back down to Florida.

Is the 220/couple for a balcony cabin? We had a balcony cabin on the Legend for the CTN but it was very pricey. Almost 1000 for the 2 nights.

No it's not silly that you want to do it on your anniversary. Our anniversary is is Oct 2nd, so at least we went in the same month. :p

The one on the 16th is for next year. This year's cruise is on the 18th.

Maybe you can get your husband to do that one also. Kind of like a little sampling of the Miracle. :p Although you can't compare a CTN to an 8 day cruise. Totally different atmosphere.

You are going to have a fabulous time. Definitely go to Nick and Nora's. Make your res as soon as you board cause it fills up fast. If you like jazz music they have a really great trio in the Jeeves lounge. Hopefully they will still be there when you go. And if Music Boardwalk is still there, they play in Frankie and Johnnie's lounge. They are outstanding!!!

Alcohol isn't included in your fare. But if you're interested in bringing bottles there is no limit on what you bring back from the cruise (at least from Norfolk.) They charge a flat 3% sales tax on everything and you can lug as much liquor, cigarettes, etc. as you can off the ship. Keep in mind there are no porters, though. We still managed to fit 7  bottles of liquor in our rolling suitcases to take off the ship, though. Liquor is ridiculously expensive here in VA and onboard prices seem to average about half of what our liquor stores sell for.

The CTN was fun but way too short. We booked on a last minute deal for pretty cheap but the way overcharge for the CTN's in my opinion. I'd be much more likely to do another one if it were a 3 day weekend instead of just two.

No, going out of Norfolk on the Victory in October. We're celebrating my 40th birthday! I'm so excited!

Sorry, I don't know how it works in Norfolk. Maybe someone else can comment on it.

Have a great time. :D

Good Morning, Goodlooking!

Your post reminded me of when I was in the audio/video business. I had a customer, he's the father of a famous jazz musician and he liked one particular Jazz radio station that he could not receive good reception.

He lives in this huge late 19th century hacienda style house, I ended up installing a custom-built monster of an FM antenna in his attic, literally converting his attic into an antenna array! Some things people do for GOOD JAZZ! This was in the days of pre-XM or Sirrius Satellite Radio.

To OP, if you are taking a cruise to nowhere, I am sure it will be just as fun as a regular cruise, albeit a short one at that, BUT, it is wishful thinking that alchohol is included!

Another thing to keep in mind, if you have to travel/drive a a long distance to get to the ship, it might not be worth the hassle of taking a cruise that in effect is just an overnight sailing.

Just the Captain's opinion, others may very well beg to differ.

Happy cruising everyone :)
