Pyramid excursion

Booked the Norweigin Jade (Pride of Hawaii) oct 13, 2008. Looking to do a shore excursion to the pyramids. One day not overnight.

I read a few threads about DeCastro tours.

Has anyone done this or the Cruise excursions booked through NCL?

Also booked a BC (balcony) cabin level 9 as GUARantee. Any comments?

When are you going to be in Egypt again? Do the overnight. It is an over 2 hour bus ride each way from Alexandria to Cairo. If you do the one day trip it will be very tiring.

We did the trip through NCL and feel it was worth every penny. We felt safe the whole time, our tour guide was wonderful, and the hotel was one of the nicest I have stayed in. There is so much to see that you need to take the overnight.

you might want to visit PORTS OF CALL for some more input on tours

there is no Port of Call for Alexandria, Egypt or the Mediterranean for that matter. The only place Egypt is discussed is on the River cruise threads.

It is under Africa and the Middle East. I did some research there before my trip last year.

excellent pictures! I would love to do this trip someday!:)

Thanks. The pictures represent about twice what you would see if you just did the one day. I didn't take pictures inside the museum because I bought the book instead. Even if you have seen one of the traveling King Tut exhibits it is nothing compared to the full exhibit in the museum.

Probably way too late to help you, we booked our overnight through DeCastro and the service was excellent (and about half the cost of the ship excursion). Our own van, guide, driver and body guard to boot. Highly recommended!

We were on the Jewel in May and did the overnight - highly recommend it! The Light and Sound show was breathtaking! I agree with kodos - too much for one day. And do check the Africa ports of call, we got a lot of good info there. Just make sure to bring hand sanitizer and don't eat any food from the street vendors.

Hey, I would recomend not goign through NCL. groups are way too big and either get rushed or not wnough time to enjoy a site. Book a private tour wich is cheeper and can go at your own pace. Me and mom did this in Eygpt in May with Champion it is was great. When we went on NCL tour it was just too crowed and didnt get to hear our tour guide half the time.
