Anybody been to Elba?

Recommended Posts

Hi, we will be in Elba on 25th September, myself and my 85 year old mother who walks very slowly with a stick. I am not too keen on coach tours, is Portoferraio nice to spend time in, have a wander round etc. I would be grateful to hear from anyone who has been to Elba.

Thanks.

Yes, Portofino is nice to spend time in but unfortunately it probably will be hard for your mother. Unless you stay directly at the waterfront every way includes steep uphill walking. Napoleon's palace, the old walls, the theatre, the churches, everything is uphill.

The only sight on ground level is the museum which is at the far end of the town port.
