Sept 23 freedom sailing from Miami, eastern carribean

How soon should we start watching the wather for hurricanes ofr significant weather that may effect our cruise?

Traditionally, do eastern carriben itineraries encounter more or less harsh weather and rough seas that western itineraries do??

Our first cruise was on the Rhapsody OTS last year... (70k tons, 10+ years old), this year we are on the Freedom OTS... we had 12-14 foot seas on the Rhapsody last year that tossed the ship around pretty hard.

With being much larger, larger stabilizers, etc...can we expect she will be able to handle rough seas much easier than the Rhapsody could?
