ElaineB2 Posted May 17, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 17, 2004 Help - can't decide. Really wanted to go Halibut fishing & Sitka is the only place to do it - But, also wanted to spend time taking in the culture, etc. Can anyone help me make my decision? Thanks. CruiseDreamer28 Posted May 17, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 17, 2004 How long is your stay in Sitka? We've found that we have time for both!
ElaineB2 Posted May 17, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted May 17, 2004 We're in Sitka from 8 - 4 -- halibut fishing tour is 6 hours. Figured that would be cutting it pretty close to really see anything else.
CruiseIsGood Posted May 17, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 17, 2004 I liked Sitka a lot. I thought it was the best walking town. Are your other ports full, or can you do the fishing elsewhere?
ElaineB2 Posted May 18, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted May 18, 2004 Sitka is the only port that offers Halibut fishing. DH is doing salmon fishing in Ketchikan. We may have the problem solved, though. Going to find an independent guide and try to only do 4 or 5 hours of halibut fishing if possible - then that solves the dilemma - I can see the Russian dancers in Sitka! Thanks for all the advice.
