Beyondships Posted August 9, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2007 I am in the process of posting on my website photos of the various cruise ships that I have come across over the years. http://www.beyondships.com/largecruisephotogallery.html I have one photo that I cannot identify the ship. It is one of the Sovereign class ships (Sovereign, Majesty or Monarch of the Seas) but the question is which one? It was taken in Barbados in the 1990s. Can anyone tell which one she is and why? Straughn Posted August 9, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 9, 2007 I enlarged your picture as much as my computer would let me. It looks like the ship has balconies on the top passenger deck. If I am correct, then it has to be Monarch or Majesty. Sovereign's balconies were added later.
bubbadog Posted August 9, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 9, 2007 i think its monarch of the seas
bunting Posted August 9, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 9, 2007 If it was around the 91/92 Monarch had Barbados in the itinerary
cot427 Posted August 9, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 9, 2007 My grandma went on the southern intinerary around the early 1990's and the ship she went on the was Monarch of the Seas. That's when she went to Barbados and she loved it. So my guess is the Monarch.
prc Posted August 9, 2007 #6 Share Posted August 9, 2007 It's Monarch or Majesty. The reason to eliminate the Sovereign is more noticable than the balconies (or lack of). If you look below and behind the viking crown, there is a section of solid white hull. On the Sovereign, it is shaped like this: // ...................................................// On the Monarch & Majesty, it is shaped like: // ........................................................//// It is wider on the bottom half. (I hope this shows correctly!)
glgolfer Posted August 9, 2007 #7 Share Posted August 9, 2007 The Monarch did the Southern Caribbean in the early 90s out of San Juan. My guess is it is the Monarch.
johndru Posted August 9, 2007 #8 Share Posted August 9, 2007 I have to agree, Monarch of the Seas. We were on her in '94 and '96, and at that time, she did the Eastern Caribbean, while Majesty did the Western Caribbean. This was our first and second cruise, and she still holds a very warm place in our hearts!

lizaj1 Posted August 10, 2007 #10 Share Posted August 10, 2007 As I recall the Monarch sailed the SC, the Majesty the WC and the Sovereign the EC. Therefore this must be the Monarch.
