pghsteeler1 Posted August 9, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2007 Hello, Has anyone ever stayed in rooms 11650 or 11654 on the Jewel? Or any of the aft mini suites? I am booked for April 2008 in 11650. I read that it is a handicapped accessible room. Does anyone have any pictures? How is the balcony in these aft mini suites? Can people in the Great outdoors look down and see you on your balcony? Also, is it possible to be bumped from this room if someone with a disability would need the room? Any information that anyone can provide would be extremely helpful. Thanks.
JACruiser Posted August 9, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 9, 2007 Generally, the cruise line will NOT bump you from these rooms if someone who is handicapped needs it, mostly because they are not allowed to ask why a customer needs the room. Thus, out of courtesy, those of us who are fortunate enough to be able-bodied do not book them to leave them available for those who truly need them. Sure they're bigger, but what's a few square feet when it means someone who truly needs it will be able to take a great vacation? :) The aft mini suites are among the most sought-after and rightfully so. The view of the wake is amazing. In response to your question, those on the Great Outdoors cannot look down on your balcony, but you can see down onto the penthouse balconies below you. The balcony is a good size, plenty big enough for two people. We were in 11156 and it was a great room. I'm sure any of the aft minis would be great, though! Enjoy your cruise! :D You'll love the Jewel.
pghsteeler1 Posted August 10, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted August 10, 2007 :) Thank you for your very usefull and appreciated information. We cannot wait to be on the Jewel with a beautiful view of the ocean. We were on her sister ship, the Pearl, last year and loved it. We were unaware this was a handicapped suite, when we asked the travel agent for an aft room she gave us the last one available. She did not infom us that is was a handicapped suite, we discovered this when we pulled up the deck plans for the Jewel.
