Kissara22 Posted August 10, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2007 We're seeking a nice hotel on the ocean or Mission Bay, with great views of the water, and close to the attractions ( Sea World, Zoo, etc.) . Any help would be appreciated. Any recommendations???
wanderer34 Posted August 11, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2007 Vacation Village is on an island in the middle of mission Bay. Te Dana is on the water by the marina. Holiday inn is near sea world. The Hilton is deep in Mission Bay across from Fiesta Island. Have Fun..........
Splinter Posted August 11, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2007 You can be on the water at San Diego Bay (closest to the Gaslamp Quarter, cruise terminal, Seaport Village, the Zoo and Balboa Park, harbor excursions, and the airport), or at Mission Bay (closest to Sea World) or at one of the beaches (La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Coronado). If you will be there when the water is warm, and want to swim, steer away from either Mission Bay or San Diego Bay (water is too polluted) and go to the beach areas. The Crystal Pier Hotel in Pacific Beach is expensive, but great fun as you are actually on a pier over the ocean and can feel the waves all night long. The Tower 23 Hotel is new and beautiful (but expensive). If you want to stay in La Jolla, the La Valencia is a great old hotel that is still frequented by many celebrities. Of course if you want to go to Coronado, you can't beat the Hotel del Coronado for class and history, but it is also expensive if you want an ocean view room. There are other hotels in Coronado, but none that are right on the beach like this. For San Diego Bay (remember, no swimming) the Manchester Marriot or the Hyatt Regency have great views from their bars, and are right on the marina and next to Seaport Village. Desert Cruizers Posted August 13, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 13, 2007 We were able to get a group rate at the HI Bayside for our Roll Call to Hawaii Oct 2008. Had to have min of # 20. Even though we are 2 1/2 hrs away DH & I are going to go in night before to enjoy a Pre Cruise dinner with some of our group.
Splinter Posted August 14, 2007 #6 Share Posted August 14, 2007 Kissara, you did not say when you were cruising. It is too cold for swimming in the ocean here much after the middle of October unless you have a wetsuit (or are masocistic!).
