Ballantyne Pier and cabs

Recommended Posts

Hi

Hopefully, I will get some responses with this post. How easy is it to get a cab at Ballantyne Pier to get to the hotel? I was told that the wait can be up to 3 hrs. Would I have a shorter wait if I take my luggage off the ship and run to a cab. Should I wait and just call for a cab on my cell phone in advance.

Any tips would be great. I did not realize the situation with the lack of cabs. Is the city bus an option with a suitcase and duffel bag?

Thanks

Jennifer

I think the big thing with Ballantyne pier is how many ships are in at Canada Place on the day you are there. If it's crowed at CP it will also be hard to get a taxi at Ballantyne. (where normally there is only one ship) It seems from what I have heard it's either easy or difficult no happy medium. So first check you ship schedule against CP at

http://www.portvancouver.com/

with that info in hand you can use the info you received on the other forum and make some sort of decision.

If you are in need of a time for sure. Reserve a limo. There are several good firms in Vancouver one's info is on the YVR site. (Limojet)

Do the reserve thing ASAP. if you are going that route.

Hi

Thanks. It looks like there will be two ships at Canada place and my ship (Serenade) at Ballantyne pier. So it looks like it will be crazy trying to get a cab.

Since I am traveling alone, getting a limo is expensive and out of the question. I think I will just carry off my luggage (which will save me the headache of finding my luggage out of 1000's of pieces) and run to a cab.

Is there any city buses that go near Ballantyne pier. Is that an option?

Thanks

Jennifer

Nope.. Unless you are prepared to go about a mile up and over an overpass and I really don't recall there being a place to walk there anyways. It's industrial/dock area and closest bus would be on Powell St. If you get out a Google map. Intersection of Heatley & Powell The wht. building to the right and North is the Terminal. (No ships at it when picture taken)

With only two ships at CP at least you will be off better than three :)
